My respect to you for quitting and my sympathy for having to break an addiction.
I went from smoking 2-3 packs a day to dipping and chewing for about 2 years and then quit that cold turkey. Sure does feel good to wake up and not hack those slimy little balls of flim up out of my lungs each morning.

Tar, formaldyhyde, carbon monoxide, and the list goes on!

Cocoa bean? Chocolate! I will have to try them and see if they taste like Chocolate. My name is Dixie and I am a Chocoholic!

me, too. I've tried everything and so far I haven't been able to stop, though my doc did want me to not try to stop smoking until we got the atypical trigeminal neuralgia under control but I still wouldn't mind being able to stop now.

I think it's the speed and lightness of the buzz. Alchohol gives you a noticable buzz that lasts, you can avoid drinking by not wanting the buzz. Cigs give you an almost imperceptable buzz, reality just mellows out. Any time you're under any stress, whether you've smoked before or not, you want to lower your stress level, if you've smoked you know a magic little stick that will instantly lower your stress.
That's what makes the twitch. If you'll excuse me I need to kick the cat.

Thanks for all the input.. I do really appreciate it.
And, aparently I wasn't clear about my intentions.
The idea was to cut out the nicotine, then to stop smoking entirely.
Because at that point there would be no nicotine addiction to deal with at all, it would simply be a habbit. Something you were accustomed to doing that you just tell yourself not to do.
But, as it is not only do I have the repetitive hand motions and such associated with smoking to deal with but really severe withdrawal. The two of them combined make it very difficult for me.
The logic being to divide and conquer them individually.
Thanks again.. You guy's are great!

Philip Morris has two offerings. Next DeNic is a brand that they sell in Japan, but I don't think it sold in the US. The other is Accord. This is an electric job that is supposed to cut the tars and CO way down, while still giving you the nicotine and taste. Smokeless too, so you lose the smell on your clothes.
Liggett's parent company, Vector is about to introduce Omni, that you read about already on this thread. This is also a very low tar product, at least, that's what's rumored.
I don't know what RJR has in the offing, but I'm sure that they are working on something.
Hope this helps...

It took about 2 months on Welbutrin, then one evening I ran out of cigs and it was cold and rainy, and I just didn't feel like I needed a butt enough to go out. Previously, I would have been climbing the walls and would go out in a snowstorm, blizzard, hurricaine, etc. The next day, I just didn't get around to it, and it was over.
It was really amazing to me. For the first time in 30 years, I was able to do what all the light/non-smokers/non-addicted people did, just quit, without going through the roof. It was amazingly simple.
I have returned to smoking because I enjoy it, not because I need it. I quit again, just to make sure I could do it again, so easily, and it was no problem.
My opinion is that there is some type of chemical imbalance in my body, which smoking and welbutrin balance out. I am much more at ease now too.

Oh, I forgot one thing. The doctor who perscribed thee medicine for me said, "don't try to quit now", when I started taking the medicine, "just wait a while, until you are ready, then do it". So, I had been planning to quit for a while, just never got around to setting the date to do it.
