Republican Liberalism='Charm' (my title)

CALIFORNIA IS headed into a very strange governor's race.

The likely Republican nominee is a man who is more popular in West Los Angeles than he is in the Central Valley. He is a potential nominee whose Republican primary schedule includes appearances before a prominent gay and lesbian group and the Greenlining Institute, an organization devoted to empowering lower-income communities.

Why is it when Republicans turn liberal they are "open-minded" and "charming," but when Democrats take on conservative positions they are viewed as dour old cranks with ulterior motives?

if Riordan can successfully put together a coalition of economically conservative Republicans, pro-life religious voters, pro-choice feminists, gays and lesbians, Latinos, moderate/liberal white Democrats and Central Valley "law and order" conservatives, he will not only be governor, he may be in line for a more spiritual calling.

Yes and if he can make a wheel that goes round and round forever they will give him a Nobel Prize.

More wishful thinking by Riordan's adoring liberal pundits. Why in God's name would any prolifer vote for this guy, when he and his controlling wife want to hand out condoms to 13-year-olds? Why would law and order advocates vote for him when best law and order tool ever known to civilization, the death penalty, is something he opposes.

Why do idiots like Carrick ever bother to get out of bed in the morning?

California's victory-starved Republican elected officials and party leaders are salivating about Riordan's ability to recreate his Los Angeles crossover- appeal statewide.
Or it may have been the shrimp tandori. Whatever.

Carrick just needs to write "I sure hope Davis wins". That will save us all a bunch of time when reading this garbage.

"Why do Republicans support liberal Republicans?" Because: just like a bad day's fishin' is better than a good day's work, the evil donkey will give you every low life bill and program as the liberal Republican BUT the RINO can be used to do many good things. They can be pressed into appointing people to postions that make a difference. Their presence proves to the dumb lemmings that the Republicans can get elected in strange places.( Bloomberg in NY) If Greyout is reelected do you think that makes it easier or harder for W to make the barn dwellers HAVE to spend money there in 04? Then there are the total nitwits who only want to vote for someone because they think that that person will win. The more Republicans in office the better with these jerks. Besides Riordan's opponents don't have a prayer in the general. If you don't know that, stop reading these posts, you're waiting your time.

Riordan won't beat Davis. There is really little point for a liberal to vote for Riordan, if they have the real thing in Davis. Conservatives will find him utterly unpalatable.

Bush will never win California. The state is reliably Democrat, and will be akin to New York in another few years. Bush spent $20 million there in the 2000 race. Gore spent $0. Gore won 54%-41%.
