I have one pet peeve for my Catholic pro-life friends.

As you all know, I am not a Catholic but I have great respect for the Church.

I also know that there are some valid points of contention between the Catholics and the Protestants. I don't ask the Church to give up her position, but she must know those points exist.

That said, do any of you see a problem in a unity event like the national March for Life with people loudly praying the Rosary, holding placards asking Mary to pray for us, etc.? I do not mean to call into question the validity of the Rosary or asking Mary to pray for us. I think I understand the Church's position on both and do not wish to argue it. But Catholics must know that such things make non-Catholics uncomfortable. Wouldn't it be reasonable to focus on the ties that bind all of us together rather than loudly proclaim our distinctives?

And I don't even want to think about how the Jewish pro-lifers felt about many of the signs proclaiming Jesus.

Just to be sure everyone here understands. I'm not asking anyone to denounce their beliefs. I'm just wondering about the wisdom of proclaiming every one of them when the people of G-d are finally unified on something.

I'm interested in your comments.

Shalom.

My opinion as a Catholic - praying the rosary and other prayers (St Michael, etc)
are an inherent part of our faith. I believe it gives us unity and strength and is pleasing to the Lord.

The only "Mary" signs I saw were of Our Lady of Guadalupe or Church or School signs displaying their
name or their religious order. (My Church is St. Mary)
There was a gentleman that spoke on the stage and then blew some type of ceremonial horn. I was not
uncomfortable with that display of faith.
Those hallmarks of our faith are not meant to make anyone uncomfortable but serve to rally the faithful.
I saw many signs from other faiths and secular groups and didn't wonder about it one way or the other.

The more educated I become about being Catholic, the more excited I get about living, sharing and
outwardly displaying my faith.

That probably didn't help much and wasn't very articulate but please know that those things that you're questioning
are not done to make you feel bad or uncomfortable. Mostly it's an integral part of our faith and not done to annoy anyone.

My wife and I were there and what we came away with was hope. The numbers of young people last year and this year gives us bigtime hope for the future.

if you had had a Star of David there, should non-Jews been offended? we all come to the Almighty by many means & choose to worship in a multitude of ways.

GOOD causes welcome EVERYONE, regardless of what faith they are.
