All during the time of his hearing loss, he never played the victim. He always looked at this as a new challenge to be overcome and conquered. I have two dear friends (husband and wife) who have contacted diabetes and cancer (repectively) this past year and who have no insurance (they're ranchers). The husband is dieting and has lost much weight, and the wife has had six surgeries and radiation. Despite all their travails, they are positive upbeat people who do not dwell on their sickness; they make adjustments to their lifestyles, surround themselves with other upbeat people and move on.

Rush has been an example to us all. He has handled this so gracefully.
