Nigerian Scam
Dr. Michael Oki

In a letter dated 1-05-02 Dr. Oki alleges that he is a member of the Contract Award Panel of the Nigerian Petroleum Corp. The letter is a request to help the good Dr. get $27,350,000.00 in overpayment by petroleum contractors to Oki's group out of Nigeria. The letter offers the recipient 30% of the overpayment as reward for helping Oki and his buddies.
The letter is a scam. It is the second that I've gotten in as many years. What happens is that a "glitch" develops and Oki's group need $10,000.00 to hire a Nigerian attorney to get the funds out of Nigeria.
You - of course are asked to send the $10K ASAP so that the $27 million can be issued to your bank.
It's bogus - it's a scam - don't get involved.
TOPICS: Announcements; Crime/Corruption
KEYWORDS:
The State Dept. told me that one guy actually took money to Dr. Oki and had trouble leaving Nigeria - without his $10K or any part of the promised $27M.

How do we know you aren't trying to get the whole $27 million for yourself?

$27,350,000.00 in overpayment by petroleum contractors Shouldn't the petroleum contractors be getting this money back? I guess $27,350,000.00 must be pocket change to these high-rollers.

This scam has been floating around since the late 1980's. I first saw it about 10 years ago while on a drilling rig. I never heard of anyone actually falling for it, although I'm sure there are a few greedy people around.

This is an old scam just new names. At my office we have received letters like this from Nigeria for several years. They go directly to the trashcan.

This is very old and has been around for years, I get this letter in different forms about once every three months.

This scam has been circulating for at least 2-3 years. I've received several letters from the 'distinguished' one. Now it appears to be circulating via email.

You know, there might be a way to have some fun with these guys...
Wouldn't it be so ironic if the scammers were to be scammed?

"Nigeriascam" should be added to Webster's Dictionary. These rascals seem to have nothing but time on their hands to come up with transparent, idiotic flim-flams that only the stupid could fall for.
I bet the tourist guy is behind this scam.

Personally, I'm thinking of asking one Dr. Igho Rene to provide me $2 million of the $4.3 million that the wife of Sani Abacha had stashed away in cash. In return, I will CONSIDER not reporting his e-mail to the Secret Service.
Hey, what's a little extortion against scam artists?
