A big mailing came today-- absentee voter ballots for the March 5 California primary. My wife votes in the Republican primary, I in the Democrat primary (yeah, I'm one of those Reagan Democrats) and we would like advice on the races which are not high-profile.
We like Bill Simon for governor and despise Gray Davis. Which Democrat has the most chance of embarassing him and the least chance of being elected?
How about the low-profile races like Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner-- ideas for the best Pubbie and worst Democrat in each race as well as the propositions.
Advice, discussion, etc. is appreciated. Not just for us but other California residents. We plan to vote against all the so-called vote modernization plans until the state does something about fraud-- especially diluting legitimate votes with manufactured motor voters, many of whom are not even eligible.
Well, thank you, sir, and please change parties.
Of course, in 1980, a sweet but not-too-bright blonde went to a friend of mine and confessed, I'm not registered Republican, and I can't vote for Reagan in the (Calif) primary, so what should I do? And my friend told her, it's all right, don't vote for Carter, vote for Kennedy.
Anyone but Gray Davis. Take your choice.
And again, how can someone who liked Ronnie remain a Democrat, considering what the Democrats are today?
Well, maybe they can be turned, but you've got a lot of work ahead of you. Good luck.
See my bio to see how I ended up this way Hint: it has a lot to do with RINOs and their shabby treatment of Ronnie in the 1976 primaries. I'm still not sorry Carter won the general election, Ronnie might not have gotten a chance in 1980 had a few thousand votes in Wisconsin and Ohio shifted to Ford in 1976.

I think that you should be more concerned by the fact that I would vote for Simon but not for Riordan.
Many who desire a third party in the US do not realize that our "winner take all" executive branch just about ensures that we will always have a two party system. The way to raise the prospects of a "third" party, like the Libertarians, is to destroy one of the existing dominant parties. I recommend the destruction of the Democrats. And that includes candidates like Riordan who are indistinguishable from them. If someone can tell my what makes Riordan a Republican, I would like to hear it.
