Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.
I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.

PAGEY is the nickname for Jimmy Page,Ace Guitar Player.
Only his bandmates---Percy,Bonzo,Jonesey,Peter Grant and people in the 'inner clique' would ever consider addressing the man by that name.
Capable of writing music that can make you stomp your feet OR bring you to tears.
Until you've met/spoken the man, like I was lucky to do for a few minutes a couple of years ago,I don't expect anyone to understand.I love music. It has had a great impact on my life. From Guitar to the Piano.Funny how things change.

I am a lawyer and of course "Atticus" refers to Atticus Finch of Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird." I began lurking here occasionally in late 1997/early 1998 when Freerepublic was primarily a forum for the discussion of the Whitewater scandal. After the Lewinsky story broke, I became hooked. During the Lewinsky investigation, Ken Starr made a speech in which he invoked Atticus Finch. Clinton's sleaze-bag lawyer, David Kendall, responded by authoring a New York Times op-ed piece titled "To Distort a Mockingbird," which was published on June 4, 1998. The idea of loser Kendall debating Ken Starr over who was more faithful to the ideal of Atticus Finch enraged me and I adopted Atticus as my screen name when I officially signed up a few weeks later.

"A Scanner Darkly."(from 1998) Screenplay written by Charlie Kaufman [Being John Malkovich, Human Nature, Adaptation(in production)] Unfortunately, the project has disappeared from radar. Still working? Shelved?

Is your last name Reynolds?
Were you a linebacker for San Francisco?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Story was he got his name "hacksaw," by sawing a car in half with one!

One Who Knows
A rough Turkish translation for the name of the cynic philosopher Diogenes (whose boyhood home of Sinop, Turkey I lived in for a couple of years)

Isn't another FReeper named Diogenes? I think there's one called Diogenes, and a few with a take-off of the name Diogenes as well.

Do you think Utopia was satire? I can't believe it was a serious argument for the society described.
What think you?
