Freepers, I want to talk to you all about the staute. I agree with you all that to depict the staute with mullti-racial characters is wrong and politically correct. I, however, have something to tell you all that you will not like.

White people are already looked upon as racist.

That statue needs to be changed...so that lies are not propagated.

I don't think anybody here has a problem with all races being treated equally, and full participation by everybody regardless of race.

The complaint here is that falsification of history is being perpetrated. How about a movie about MLK showing his closest advisors to be white, in the name of diversification?

I agree that the Euro-Americans' time of being the dominant majority here is ending, but so is the Afro-American's time of being the dominant minority. Blacks will no longer have privileged victim status in the new multi-racial (read Latino/Asian) US of the near future, as is rapidly happening in leading edge cities like LA. Personally I don't care what color our successors are as citizens of the US so long as they're Americans and devoted to the American ideals of freedom and capitalism. Unfortunately we are abdicating our responsibility to transform immigrants into American citizens, and simply allowing them to import their bankrupt cultures and political ideas wholesale, and even abetting this noxious process via the elevation of multiculturalism to the reigning pc ideology. This insures a future of civil war and national breakup, unless drastically reversed.

You're advocating far more out of us, atttempting to hold those with whom you supposedly side--to inaction, than of those you claim to have "attacked" and are ostensibly against.

What about a compromise?

Because whoever commissioned this statue is a racist and 3 white people holding the flag isn't good enough for them. They don't want 3 'UGLY', 'stinking', 'pot bellied', WHITE men making the statue look bad....we must HUMILIATE the white men who really raised the flag by turning their faces black and hispanic. We must make them realize that their race is unimportant, that they should have only 'guilt' about their race and that they DO NOT DESERVE TO BE PORTRAYED AS THEY ARE BECAUSE OF THEIR WHITE SKIN.

Are they going to obliterate all their faces and bodies or just two of them, and which two? Is the guy who's left going to allow them to use his image when his brothers are written out of history.

Maybe it would be a good idea to privately fund a real statue that showed it like it was, and doesn't try to rewrite history, just accepts it.

I'm blown away by the need to rewrite history in the politically correct community.

Ye know, this is really ridiculous. It would be the equivilant of the Irish Government instead of putting up a statue of Plunkett Pearse and Wolfe Tone (all patriots) decided, ``Oh, hang on a sec...'em we better make one of them a Nigerian in case we upset some of our newer residents'. So when are they gonna re-model Mount Rushmore?

A good analysis of what happend after 9-11 would show that as long as it looked to the Arab Street that Bin Laden was "winning", they supported him totally. But as soon as it was apparent that following him was suicidal, they dropped him like a stone.

This multi cultural crap is no different. As long as we "let" them "win", the PC stuff will continue and grow. It needs to be put down, and as soon as it is, you would be surprized how fast the majority says "I thought PC was stupid all along".

The problem with this statue thing is that you know it would have never been done if there had been one black in the picture. Had that been the case, or more particularly, if all three had been black, it would have been impossible to make it "multi-racial".

The fact is, we are not a multi-racial society. We are a racist society, in the process of bashing white people at any point. And that's a fact. And I'm damn tired of it.

I think we need to build our own statue, and do it right.
