Pray for safety
MANILA, The Philippines (Jan. 11, 2002): Reports of increased military activity in southern Philippines prompt renewed concern for the safety of kidnapped NTM missionaries Martin and Gracia Burnham.
Last week, the Philippine military adjusted its forces on Basilan Island, withdrawing Marines and bringing in Army Scout Rangers. This week, it is reported that American troops have been arriving in the area. Philippine officials are reiterating that the Americans are there only to train Philippine soldiers.
Please pray fervently for the continued safety of Martin and Gracia, and their fellow hostage, Philippine nurse Deborah Yap. Pray that all three would be released soon.
Martin, 42, and Gracia, 42, from Kansas, were kidnapped May 27 by the Abu Sayyaf Group from a resort off the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Martin grew up in the Philippines, where his parents have been missionaries for more than 32 years. The Burnhams have been members of NTM since 1985.
Therefore we must come together and pray that He will lead and protect these people on a speedy journey home. It is the least we can do.
Prayer bump for a special, God -fearing couple. V's wife.
