I just learned that the Simon For Governor campaign has realesed its first radio ad. You can listen to it on their web site.

Here's the text (but it's better when you listen to it):

(Announcer's text in Italics.) Bill Simon -- the right experience and right qualities to be a great Republican Governor for California.

I'm Bill Simon. As a conservative Republican I want to get our state headed back in the right direction. My experience in public service, as a successful businessman and as a leader in charity have prepared me to bring the California dream to everyone.

Bill Simon - Federal Prosecutor Under Rudy Giuliani.

I'm the only candidate who has actually put criminals behind bars, and I was honored to serve as part of the Reagan Administration under Rudy Giuliani.

Bill Simon - Successful Businessman.

I've spent my career creating and saving thousands of jobs here in California. I'm ready to get our economy going again.

Bill Simon - Charity Leader.

I believe in giving back to the community and I've made volunteer work and charity a priority in my life.

Bill Simon - Federal prosecutor. Successful businessman. Leader in charity.

Bill Simon - the Conservative Republican for Governor.

Paid for by the Bill Simon for Governor Committee.

You might want to check your browser. I was using IE and heard the entire ad perfectly, though after if finished loading it was in the middle of the ad, and I had to start it from the beginning. Good luck.

I really liked Simon on the radio ad ... it sounds like Simon is a real person, someone who is smart and principled and most importantly not a business-as-usual politician.

Bill Jones is a pander to the wind RINO. Granted a little less extreme than Dick Riordan but still a RINO. Which leaves conservatives only one man to back --- Bill Simon. Let's roll - we've got a party to save and an election to win.

Issues -- "Check back soon!" Ack!

So, does it look like he has a chance, in one of the stupidest-voting states in the Union, the state that inflicted on the nation Barbara Boxer, Marxine Waters, Henry Waxman, Dianne Feinstein, Sheila K, "Red" Dellums, etc?

Don't forget that Waters and Feinstein were actually the recipients of Riordans monetary largesse. It doesn't get any worse than that!

Yeah I thought the same thing about "check back soon" - but I was much happier when I read some of the speeches.

Should be interesting to watch - I think he can. More importantly I am proud of him saying "conservative Republican" in the ad. That shows a pride in his views and that he is going to put them out there and defend them. Go Bill!

The barrage of "positive name identification" radio ads is about to begin. The attacks won't begin until we get closer to the primaries (unless liberal dick is getting nervous)

SIMON for GOVERNOR. We need to help him win the primary so that we don't get stuck with Riordan as the Republican candidate. Many of the Republicans I spoke to said that they would not vote if he was the candidate which guarantees Gray Davis another term as Governor.
