On Thursday, January 10, 2002, the White House reported President Bush signed the ominous $15.4 billion foreign appropriations bill, H.R. 2506, for fiscal-year 2002. The bill authorizes $446.5 million U.S. tax dollars to be given to other countries for abortion-family planning activities throughout the world. The abortion-family planning funds approved by Bush represents an increase of $21.5 million over last year for international family planning. Also on Thursday, Bush signed the labor, education and health spending bill, and a defense spending bill that was widely reported by The Associated Press (Bush Signs Defense Spending Bill).

Please read post #10. Until we have full disclosure on the details of this bill we shouldn't assume we'll be funding international abortion.

Breeding always tells.

What do you expect from the grandson of a eugencist and son of Title X pop-control advocate and pro-abort mother?

"I am a big time Bush supporter and I pray for him but why did he sign this bill with this garbage in it?"

Because he is a Deciever.

The "Mexico City Policy" that Bush is reinstating was introduced by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, when it was known as the "global gag rule," and rescinded by President Clinton in 1993.

It bans financial support for organizations if any of their funding, even if it does not come from the United States, is spent on abortion.

This means organizations that also provide other services, including family planning, education and health facilities, in poor countries will be affected by Bush's action.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) predicted programs to prevent unplanned pregnancies will suffer the most -- not abortion services that have been ineligible for U.S. funds for decades.

Looks like the funding has increased for "family planning", but can't be used for abortion per Bush's executive order.

"All we can do is pray for him but it is truly heartbreaking."

That's fine, but don't vote for him again. He is NOT the lesser of two evils, as so many claimed. He's only the more deceptive of the two you chose from.

He wasn't my first choice but he was the only viable alternative to gwhore.

BS ... if Gore had won, at least we'd all be able to protest the invoking of a police state, our war-mongering in Afghanistan (for starters ...), recess appointments, the funding of human embryonic stem cell research, yada yada yada.

As it is, the GOP is now boxed into shutting up and waving a flag lest they want Mrs. Cheney to decide you're not "patriotic enough".

Suckers.

You know what makes me the most angry? It's sure as hell not the fact that Bush operates true to form ... it's that those sons of bitches have so many good people totally snowed and actually praying for them.

I can't imagine anyone's praying for Bush who does not LIKEWISE pray for Clinton.

They'll both rot in hell together if there's any justice in the universe.

Hmm. Bush has been in the White House for about a year now, and the last time I noticed, nothing has been done about partial birth abortion, either. I seem to recall that a bill outlawing that savage custom passed the House with an enormous majority, and was a shoo in in the gutless Dem Senate, too -- that the only reason we don't have that law is because Clinton vetoed it.

Well, it looks like there is another reason than Clinton that we don't have it now...what could it be?

This is insane. Buchanan appears to be right again when he made the statement: The differences between the two beltway parties are inconsequential...........

Sounds like you're throwing up your hands in defeat Jeff.

Nope. I'm just a realist. The Lord reigns, and defeat isn't an option, but I've been active in politics for a lotta years and I've seen this coming for most of them. We aren't going to change it, but as a Christian I *will* continue to fight for what's right.

What would you pose as a solution?

The only answer - maybe - would be national repentance. It ain't gonna happen. America was founded by people who based their lives and this country upon their Christian faith - that's what undergirds the whole shebang. We have thrown that away, and the Lord is letting us go. Plus, without that basic morality, this country has no hope of functioning as a free society anyway. As John Adams said, "The Constitution is suitable for a religious and a moral people; it is unsuitable for the government of any other."

Oh yes ... the "Clean Hands" and Compassionate form of abortifacient birth control and "family planning".

Nothing like twisting the arms of the weak worldwide, shoving birth control and RU-486 down their throats if they wish to enjoy any other assistance from ole "Pro-Life" Uncle Sam.

We wouldn't want a bunch of ragheadse or poor blacks clogging our way to their natural resources, now, would we?

Do you know if Bush has vetoed the GOP vote on Title X abortion funding? (The one they passed lest government be "shut down" in the middle of the election?)
