Clinton-Gore sales team eased Enron's path to success
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | December 9, 2001 | "Dateline D.C." - Washington, D.C.-based British journalist and political observer.

WASHINGTON - "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall."

This week, this old nursery rhyme has taken control of this column. From Washington to Pittsburgh by way of New York City and Los Angeles with important detours to China, Japan, India, Mozambique, Croatia, England, Germany and elsewhere in the world, we have been watching and reading about the great fall of Enron.

As heard this morning on the Quinn in the Morning show here in Pittsburgh.

If you live in an area that has a conservative leaning station with a lousy morning show, you might want to consider mailing them and asking them to try to syndicate this show.

After the Clinton-Gore "What Ever It Takes" Era (protected by the LIBERAL media and an obedient justice department),
these shell games and security "lapses" will become increasingly exposed.

Far be it for the lamestream presstitution racket to run with this angle, eh? Today's fishwrap had one line in 20 column inches about the big $$ to W, Ashcroft, pubbies that essentially said: "Oh, Enron also gave some money to the Rats." Sickening lot the pressholes really are....

They're delusional, my friend. The Democrats are, too.

How quickly they forget that scandal only 'works' when there's evidence -- real evidence, not innuendo -- of SOME 'COVER-UP' or official malfeasance. There isn't even the vaguest intimation of either of these here.

The public's eyes will glaze over, as they ask, in unison, 'where's the beef'?

Just as Rush was strongly hinting yesterday: the Democrats better be careful what they stir up with their attempts to hang Enron around GWB's neck, for it will come back to bite them!

I'm afraid I think you may be wrong. I'm already experiencing it with my liberal coworkers. They are buying the media-pushed line of this is W's WhiteWater. When I ask what the crime is, they babble something about the rich getting rich and the ordinary guy losing all, but when pressed to come up with a crime, they can't. But still, they insist W is guilty of something here.

The media is working overtime to help the Democrats hang this on W. This is payback time for Clinton and for Florida.

This will ikely devolve into nothingness since both parties were "involved" and the general public will get more cynical because once again no one will get punished for perceived "crimes".

Are they political junky-types? As far as the public in general, absent evidence of a crime/cover-up, this story won't have much gravitas.....<=====Uh-oh! There's that word again! ;^)

I'd say they are in between sheeple and political junkies. They watch some of the Sunday shows and read the lamestream press, but they don't engage in sites like FR. They've been pretty good barometers of the general public's perception in the past. I think they think this is a "there's lots of smoke, there must be fire" kind of thing, couple with a lot of "they all do it", which is different than what they said during Clinton. For Clinton, they believed it was a witch hunt and "all about sex" which is exactly what the media fed them....

They've been pretty good barometers of the general public's perception in the past. I think they think this is a "there's lots of smoke, there must be fire"

Good analysis -- and description of a syndrome played like a violin by the NYT and the broadcast media. Give them half the truth, scream it loudly, and then drop it when it appears to have no legs, but take occasional broadsides to keep the suspicion festering in the public conscience. The result is lingering doubt by a votership that allows themselves to be led by the nose.
When the good guys (I can't include all Repubs in that tag) learn to be proactive, rather than reactive, this may stop, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. You have to think like a liberal to anticipate a liberal, and conservatives are just not devious enough -- that may have been a virtue in the past, but it's swiftly becoming suicidal.
