Wrong Party! It's not LP rhetoric it's actually from the founder of the Conservative Caucus. If you want to understand why many conservatives are hopping mad at the GOP read this platform and see how much it differes with that of the GOP.
I voted GOP in the 2000 primary but the GOP leadership had it's hired talking heads allready singing only W can win. Half of the states hadn't even voted and you say we will be heard? Most in this forum including myself have not completely written off the GOP. If I find a GOP who hold a good portion of these values yes I will vote for them. But like this year when I see a DEM vs Bill Frist I walk out of the booth in disgust. Fred Thompson as well will never see a vote from me again he betrayed his duties. I don't care how much it hurts the GOP I'd rather see him gone and loose the seat so one who will do the job can give it a try next election. Do I agree with 100% of the platform that I linked too? No about 75% is a more closer and honest statement. As well I can not now agree with the current GOP leadership on even 50% of it's platform. I would say more like lower 30% and some key issues which to me are not negotiable have been sold out. If you read the link I posted you will better undersatnd where a lot of persons in this thread are coming from. There is a vast difference in beliefs. Up till Bush sr it was workable. Reagan united both sides of the GOP by respecting the conservative side and not ignoring them.
I held my nose and voted Dole against my better judgement. He made himself and the GOP a disgrace with the Convention freak show. I had high hopes in the 1994 elections when the GOP took both houses. It didn't last 6 months and the Dems were running the show. Why? Too many corrupt in the GOP perhaps who were blackmailable? I think so. You expect bad conduct from the Dems but the GOP was up till then known for higher standards. We couldn't even seat a conservative speaker of the house remember? Newt? Livingston? Hyde? so who did we get but Hassert. If and when the GOP stops playing one up man ship with Dems to see who can tear down our constitution first then I'll reconsider. Till such time the GOP will not have a straight party line vote from me.
