I vote often on VOTE.com as well.. I just don't think they have the impact that a PETITION does, simply because the "VOTES" are routed to our elected officials for which I usually recieve a canned response via e-mail, explaining that they are "sorry they can not answer every e-mail" which is really a bunch of garbage, because we all know how easy it would be to generate an AUTOMATED response that actually responds to the issue..

FReegards,

David

I was not accusing you of VOTING LP, I simply characterized your response as "typical" LP RHETORIC.. You can be in the GOP and your LP Rhetoric will be heard... Please accept my personal invitation to the GOP if you are not already a sustaining member..

David

I think it was more important to pass it quickly... I have FULL confidence in our President

David, this is one of the more pathetically naive (and dangerous) statements I have ever read. Government can never be reformed, only limited. Please remove me from your ping list.

I will be happy to remove you from my ping list, however with all due respect, I happen to agree with you on limiting government, is it not possible to have confidence that SOME of those who we PUT in power will NOT abuse it? I think you have our current President confused with our Previous one..

FReegards,

David

Your name calling is UNWARRANTED, I forgive you..

"I have FULL confidence in our President"

David, David, David, please re-think your reply to me. Do you really have unquestioned loyalty to someone you don't even know personally?

"rather than give Mr. Clinton FREE press."

He gets all the FREE press he needs as it is!!! Weak argument on your part. That comment makes me wonder about your true position vis a vis; the clintons

"I think it was more important to pass it quickly..."

And why, pray tell, do you feel the Federal gov't should even be involved in education? It is a local issue
With government hand-outs comes government control, thus, brainwashing.
Please be very careful of following ANYONE blindly 'cause that is how dictators are made!!

If you'll take a deep breath and actually read my reply, you'll see that I never called you anything but David.

And laws should always be drafted with the cognizance that this is the same country that elected Bill Clinton. Twice.

You can re-up me for your ping list when George Bush announces that the executive branch's annual budget is smaller than it was in a previous fiscal year.

"Except for the misguided members of the third group, who just need to get their heads on straight"

Shame on you for your comments about people who don't trust politicians and have a healthy scepticism about them.

Let me remind you of their latest thievery of our treasury at the "midnight hour", i,e,; they gave themselves a $4,900 increase while giving social security recipients a whopping $37.00 increase!!!

There is no doubt that David O means well, however, I suspect he has that "I want to feel cuddly safe" syndrome I read quite often on this forum, therefore, any new law is OK.

Every new law takes another freedom away from us and it is designed to curtail those of us (the majority of Americans) who obey laws against criminality.

What really bothers me about the "p.a.t.r.i.o.t" law is that both houses passed it without reading it. It wasn't even printed according to Rep. Ron Paul. Does that bother anyone else?

Having worked as a Congressional staffer for about a year, I am sad to inform you that none of them read any of the laws that they pass. Sad, but true.

Then shame on the many who have stated or implied that the President, and the Attorney General, are traitors to the country.

Wrong Party! It's not LP rhetoric it's actually from the founder of the Conservative Caucus. If you want to understand why many conservatives are hopping mad at the GOP read this platform and see how much it differes with that of the GOP.

Click here to get to the link

I voted GOP in the 2000 primary but the GOP leadership had it's hired talking heads allready singing only W can win. Half of the states hadn't even voted and you say we will be heard? Most in this forum including myself have not completely written off the GOP. If I find a GOP who hold a good portion of these values yes I will vote for them. But like this year when I see a DEM vs Bill Frist I walk out of the booth in disgust. Fred Thompson as well will never see a vote from me again he betrayed his duties. I don't care how much it hurts the GOP I'd rather see him gone and loose the seat so one who will do the job can give it a try next election. Do I agree with 100% of the platform that I linked too? No about 75% is a more closer and honest statement. As well I can not now agree with the current GOP leadership on even 50% of it's platform. I would say more like lower 30% and some key issues which to me are not negotiable have been sold out. If you read the link I posted you will better undersatnd where a lot of persons in this thread are coming from. There is a vast difference in beliefs. Up till Bush sr it was workable. Reagan united both sides of the GOP by respecting the conservative side and not ignoring them.

I held my nose and voted Dole against my better judgement. He made himself and the GOP a disgrace with the Convention freak show. I had high hopes in the 1994 elections when the GOP took both houses. It didn't last 6 months and the Dems were running the show. Why? Too many corrupt in the GOP perhaps who were blackmailable? I think so. You expect bad conduct from the Dems but the GOP was up till then known for higher standards. We couldn't even seat a conservative speaker of the house remember? Newt? Livingston? Hyde? so who did we get but Hassert. If and when the GOP stops playing one up man ship with Dems to see who can tear down our constitution first then I'll reconsider. Till such time the GOP will not have a straight party line vote from me.

There are groups like the ACLU and People for the American Way that are trying to undermine the Attorney General's efforts --

OH GREAT ... The ACLU is at it AGAIN ... is there any way to get rid of these people ..
