Many more people are quite capable of enjoying porn when and where it is appropriate with no undue effects.

That is your opinion but I want to tell that pornography has wrecked more marriages than you will ever know. Hopefully you are not married because you are wrecking your marriage with that stuff. And if you are not married then you are going to have some unreal expectations of your wife that will make you very unfullfilled.

Uh huh. Has it wrecked more marriges than booze... or even golf? I suspect not, but you certainly don't know. Whether you realize it or not, your logic that the evil is in the thing - pornography - and not the person is the same as that used by the left wing lunatic MMM anti-gun fanatics who see the gun as evil and people as its victims. What happens if pornography is successfully eliminated from the world? Immature cretins would horde medical books and lingerie ads, for which there would be a sudden and lucrative market.

Ah yes, the ever popular blanket statement based on nothing. Sure, some people don't smut responsibly, much like some people don't drink responsibly, others don't read responsibly (twice Patton had to take medical because his constant reading in poor lighting caused his eyes to swell shut). Any of these (or the infinite other things that people can obsess on) can ruin a person's life or marriage. But you can't apply it universally. Some people can partake of porn and move on.

Full disclosure: my wife got me my first subscriptions to Penthouse and Playboy as wedding presents. I let the PH one lapse, never really dug PH that much. I intend to keep the PB subscription as long as I keep the wife. Watching PB take up more and more bookshelf space (much as my marriage takes up more and more personal history space) is cool because of the linkage. See some folks can make it work and others can't.

Is that your opinion or do you have a sourse for your statement? In my OPINION, I suspect that porn is not the culprit, but rather the result a spouse who (a) puts on 50 lbs. and looks like a marshmellow; (b) forgot how to have fun; and/or (c) has so many sexual hangups that he or she refuses to have sex unless "it" takes place at night, in the bedroom, under the covers, with the lights out. In contrast, my companion and I are very open about sexual needs, desires, fantasies, and dislikes. We often look at so-called "porn" together and on our own, not the XXX stuff on commercial websites, but the explicit amateur photos that everyday people post to usenet newsgroups. And what we have discovered is that attractive, sexy people come in all sorts of shapes and sizes with various imperfections just like the rest of us. So rather than having "unreal expectations of your wife that will make you very unfullfilled," I see my lady as a beautiful, attractive, highly sexual person whose body is no less perfect than any other average 40 something year old woman.
