Thank you for this post. For years I struggled with inappropriate internet content (losing a job in the process) and, concurrently, could not figure out why my life felt out of control. It was only by turning my life over to the care of God that this compulsion is being lifted and, as a result, I am in a much better place today.

"For Male and Female created He them."

Perhaps if some of the mainstream religions had not made sexual cripples out of generations and generations of people, there would be no outlet for these Onanistic pursuits?

Can it be that the Market for these "services" is as much the outward sign of certain nonScriptural doctrines as it is a sickness of the soul?

Like many I am infuriated by XXX-Spam when it arrives unbidden. The fact it does seems indicative of the high demand, though.

I would be more interested in knowing WHY there is such a high demand. It implies to me that people are not in healthy relationships.

This is one of the subjects that Christians don't want to talk about, and that only helps to exacerbate the problem.

The fact that porn is so readily available (you don't have to go to the "dirty book store" anymore) also contributes. I don't know how many e-mails end up in my trash can every week that are designed to lure you in. This highlights the fact that we need to "crucify the flesh" and seek God's guidance and power for living every moment of every day.

Excellent advice. My lovely spouse just pointed out that the love of pornography is not only a problem for men, but increasingly a problem for women.

This is a good message so long as he is not advocating laws. You can imagine how pointless and destructive a war on pr0n would be considering that any yahoo with a $30 quick cam and $10 internet connection can be in the business. Of course they'll have to supply their own naked teens.

Women have difficulty with this as well. Harlequin Romance novels and other romance novels are full of sexually explicit material...and women read them. Let's not end the concern with the men. Women need to be exhorted as well.

I have yet to understand why so many people have a problem with one adult admiring the nude form of another adult.

Don’t you guys have something better productive to do than this. Like protest corruption in government.

By the way, even the most hard core pornography could not ever hope to hold a candle to the sexual, political, religious, real life, historical soap opera we call the Old Testament of the Holy Bible.

It's not the religious crap so much as it is the fact that now my right arm is so much larger than the left. Oh yeah, and my nickname is "The Crab".

My sister just divorced her husband of ten years. A week after the legal divorce he showed up to pick up his kids with his "girlfriend." My sister also found a million links to particularly nasty porn sites on his computer. It's all of a piece.

I agrree with all of your points regarding pornography. But a person who has accepted Christ as savior cannot lose their salvation. Once a person is saved they can only break fellowship with God by sinning. Salavation cannot be earned by works. If it could be then we would have no need for Christ

This essay and all the posts I've read relating to it seem to place all the blame on men for not resisting temptation. What about all the women who "get nekkid" and get it on. This reminds me of the Garden of Eden story in a way.

It seems to me that large segments of the female population are naturally exhibitionistic. Fortunately, the urge to take it off seems to decrease with age. We are talking an aesthetic nightmare if this continued into nursing home age.

Come on, get over it. If you don't like porn for any reason, don't buy it. If you get porn spam, delete it, and if it bothers you too much, get a new email address. If you worry about your kids being exposed to porn, don't let them indulge in it. Simple.

Personally, porn is something I can take or leave. I delete all the porn spam I get immediately without opening it. That's the way to handle porn - ignore it, and DON'T MESS WITH AMENDMENT I.

I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake. Did I stumble onto the 700 Club website, or can someone please explain to me the relevance between this thread and:
Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.

Thanks in advance.

To the Christian, porn appeals to the workings of sin in the flesh (Rom. 7:23)

Well now. That explains a lot.

What a negative, ugly view of human sexuality and human beauty.
