MADISON, Wis. -- A federal judge Tuesday ordered the state's Department of Workforce Development to stop funding a faith-based Milwaukee program that helps troubled fathers with drug treatment, job training and placement.
The order from U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb came in response to a lawsuit filed by the Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation, which opposed money going to the Milwaukee program Faith Works.
The program receives grants from the DWD and has a contract with the state Department of Corrections to operate a halfway house providing 24-hour supervised residential care.

Oh well. Anybody in law enforcement will tell you that the ONLY programs that work to get addicts OFF of drugs, are faith-based, usually Christian, programs. The "war on drugs" is a sham.

$10 says she's a Clinton ho...err "appointee."

The answer is not to fund faith based programs but to defund the others. None of them should be getting federal (tax payer) funds.

troubled fathersTroubled fathers need a halfway house?
Is TF a euphemism for ex-convict?
Don't ex-convicts already have
halfway houses?

Dear gay butt worshipers, Mother Earth worshipers, Infant sacrificers, Animal worshipers, and all other groups associated with Satans minions....."For a private program to operate that way is fine. Go right ahead, but don't expect public taxpayers to proselytize for you.

What Happened to the President's faith based initiative and plans? Why would this not qualify? This makes me sick and I doubt the churches in the area will rally and fight this, though they should. Most pastors now live in fear and silence. How very sad.

Give them federal money and you will see just how silent they can be.
Better question, what happened to smaller government?

What Happened to the President's faith based initiative and plans? We all woke up to the "faith" of Islam. I would prefer that my tax dollars not be used to train terrorists, or brainwash children. They seem to be accomplishing that just fine without a "faith-based initiative."

You mean, less government?. You'd better call a doctor in the morning. No, I'm a realist. As long as we keep endorsing the two repulsive party's we will get bigger government.:)
Now about bush increasing the funding for clinton's Americorps, that was a smooth move wasn't it?LOL

Perhaps we can look at this as a case of incrementalism working in the right direction for once. Bush supporters keep promising me that we can't expect drastic improvements and that we got here incrementally so we have to cure our lust for socialism incrementally. Weening the churches is a good first step. I can't wait to see which baby-step is next.

Bush supporters keep promising me that we can't expect drastic improvements and that we got here incrementally so we have to cure our lust for socialism incrementally. In fact I agree with that, but this is the first sign of things moving in the right direction and it isn't bush doing it. I would imagine considering bush's faith based plan this is exactly opposite of what he would like.
I'm not looking to bush to reduce government. He has already demonstrated where he stands on that issue and it isn't smaller government by any stretch of the imagination.
