Bob Stoops is headed to Florida. That according to a report from a Florida TV station minutes ago. Mike stoops and others on the staff can tell you that they did not know of this decision until moments ago. More later.

It has been cold, cold, and cold! All my outside Christmas decorations are still up and won't come down until tomorrow when it is supposed to get near 60! I hate cold weather and we have had 14 inches of snow already which is 10 inches or more than normal.

It is pretty here much to my surprise when we moved up here from South Texas. I live in the rolling hills of East Norman. It made my day to see Coach Bob Stoops actually pick Norman, OK, over Gainesville, FL cold weather and all!

Actually Roy Williams doesn't come from a poor family. His parents fly in for some of our games and have never gotten the feeling they were in poverty. Don't think these policies actually cost that much either as they very seldom have had to pay off on them.

To all Sooner fans: Bob Stoops press conference in about 10 minutes. David Boren flew back from New Mexico, met with Bob, and issued a press release that he is glad that Bob Stoops has picked The University of Oklahoma over The University of Florida!

To SEC fans: Looks like you will all be getting Shanahan at UF, but you will definitely not be getting Bob Stoops!

When a guy can coach at Oklahoma.... I mean why would he want to leave for a second rate school like Florida??? :)

Cool! Thanks for keeping an eye on events for us. (Fourteen inches of snow in Norman? I'm jealous! We didn't get any up here in the NE quad of the state!)

Thanks for all the updates throughout this saga!

Who knows, Bob or Carol may have been on FreeRepublic and may have seen all your posts and how much we care.

You have made more of a difference in this and helping contribute to the perception of the heart and spirit and class of loyal Sooner fans nationwide than you will ever know. You probably have even helped recruiting!

You could start your own website with OU football news and people would flock to it.

Boomer! Sooner!

And I am really with you on promising to stay five years

I missed you on the thread about Stoops staying, but you were right!! Thank goodness, you were right! I haven't felt so relieved about an event like this in many years.

He has now turned down Notre Dame (supposed #1) and Florida (another supposed #1). There aren't a whole bunch of jobs left that could compete with the one he has. I think Bob will be here for a few more years. Channel 9's web page quoted Stoops as saying "We've got something special here (at OU)." Glad he feels that way.

Carry on, and BOOMER SOONER!!

Spurrier is giving his goodbyes now. He is a class act and a good guy. Anyone who has a chance to listen to him will see this...

Some folks are just plain wired backwards and see things exactly backwards from others. I was just talking with my son in Gainesville as he was watching the interview at a local Gator Pub. He said the general consensus there was that Spurrier was childish and petty, but nobody cared, because he is a winner. Now, I stand by to hear more of your fanitical Talibanese.

I've been to Norman a time or two:) In fact... I've been to about 99% of the home games since about 1975. Norman is a rockin college town.

Sounds like you've raised a son who is as big as horsesa-s as his old man.

I heard it from Craig Humphries and Jim Trabor on the Sports Animal this afternoon. Said Roy was looking in to it. Haven't listened to this much of the Sports Animal in a long time. For today they beat Rush by a wide margin! I have had my TV and radio on all day!

Great night to be a Sooner -- our men's basketball team just beat Connecticut at CT!

I wonder.  I heard from a completely unreliable source that Shanahan has already told UF that he won't take the job, and they aren't going to Denver to talk to him, but to Gary Kubiak.

Probably a bunch of bravo sierra, but who knows?

That is one of the nicest posts I have ever had on here. Thanks much! I love the Sooners and there are so many fans that cannot listen that I thought everyone should know what was going on as this was so important!

My daughter and I stood out in the snow and ice last January to welcome the 2000 National Champions home from the Orange Bowl at the Switzer Center with 8,000 other crazy fans. It was cold but worth it!

Boomer Sooner and thanks again for making my evening!

Sharon

I have been on this thread and another one keeping everyone up to date. I have even had my son checking with some players he knew to see if they knew anything.

Bob Stoops now knows how much he truly means to the Oklahoma fans, but this has sure been a long three days! They said tonight on Channel 9 that Bob had turned down the FL AD yesterday afternoon but the FL AD INSISTED that he wanted to talk to Bob in person to try and convince. After 20 minutes, the AD left for the airport and Denver. All I could think of was that he did not know the meaning of the word "NO!"

Al from The Sports Animal said that he thought that Bob Stoops woke up Sunday morning and was leaning toward going to Florida but after he and Carol went to Church on Sunday morning where he prayed for guidance and then visited the house they were building, they decided to stay in Norman!

Guess all those prayers from the Sooner Nation paid off. Then we beat CT tonight with our men's basketball and right now the Sooner Nation is on a total high!

Boomer Sooner!
