Here's one from Karen who's from upstate, New York. Big territory. "Bill, I almost always agree with you, but you are really wrong on this one. The pilot did exactly the right thing. And anyone who believes a government ID cannot be forged is living in a fantasy."

Boy you sure dont require much of the pilot do you.

I suppose the pilot should cook the food and fill up the gas tank too right. The pilot's job is to make sure the plane lands safely, and to make sure the cabin is secure...his job stops there.

Discrimination is not a bad thing or we would all be satisfied with rotting food. Speaking of which, why are disruptors Dave S(audi) and ImphClinton still here?

Am I disrupting you? Seic Heil Mein Friend! You sure do have a funny appreciation for freedom of discussion. Guess you think that means that right applies only to you.

Why are the rest of you wasting time and bandwidth with these terrorists?

Because this is more relevant story that dealing with Black Helicoptors, NWO, treason on the part of Bush that some of you more intolerant types like to discuss. Boy I cant wait until Congress is back in session and FR will get back to politics ratherh than this mindless Pat Buchannan type drivel.

As famously uttered by Jack Nicholson..."You can't handle the truth..."...does it hurt?

Nope, still chuckling. How about you, you sound a little irritated?

Just call it righteous indignation in the face of irrational stupidity. The expletives are only for dramatic intent. But to people like you, if the truth is extreme, then it must be emotional. On the contrary. If anyone here is founding their argument in emotionalism - defending an obvious incompetent Quran carrying, sue happy out-of-control Arab - it is you.

Profiling does not mean just arbitrarily eliminating the right to fly to a whole class of people. That is discrimination, and unlike profiling, is against the law.

Exactly right. This is what Christ would have us do. He said love your enemy not call no man your enemy. Terroist are our enemies. Our love for them means we do our best to caputre them alive then try them for their sins. We don't just shoot them and we don't just kick all Mid-Easterns off airplanes. We treat all with respect giving they at least the ability to prove their innocense.

The Pilot did everything right. Right up to the point that he refused this Agent, the right, to prove he was an agent. I really have a hard time believing this Pilot really thought there was no way to verify this man's right to be on this plane. I wonder if this agent had ever filled out one of these forms himself. Someone would have typed it out for him before he went to the Airport. It is not his job to fill out this form. It however was the pilots job to assure that his flight was safe. That means using profiling the passengers then checking them out if necessary. But he only did the first part. Once he profiled this agent he just looked for excuses to kick him off the plane and never once considered the Agent might really be an agent. These Agents fly all the time. No doubt the have to change planes once in a while. It was unrealistic to expect this agent would fill out this form perfectly the first or even second time. But unforgiveable that he made no attempt to verify the agents authinticity. Even more unforgiveable that he didn't call in the FBI or someone else to take this Terroist into custody once the pilot determined that is what he was. Asking for pictures of Terroist sure makes me think that is what he thought, and I would have thought the same thing.

...what do you know about anything? Are you Aussies not the same ones who like sheep let your govt. disarm the entire nation?...

No. That's the trouble with you NPR listeners, you believe any BS the liberals spoon feed you.

Australia is not 'disarmed.' We have very high levels of gun ownership. I'd guess shooting and hunting is far easier to enjoy in Australia than in about 90% of the US. We can deerhunt 365 days of the year, for instance. If you want the facts about shooting in Australia, check out

Do you truly think that the Agent and the Airline are the only two potential sources for the story.

Actually, CAIR is the source of the story. December 27 in the NYTimes. That means that they had the story while the agent was STILL ON HIS WAY to Waco to join the President in Crawford.

BTW, my neighbor is a flight attendant for AA who allowed me to listen to a voicemail sent to every AA employee by Don Carty, the chairman. In it, he reiterates that AA will continue to uphold the highest safety standards. He also said that it is unfortunate that some have escalated a situation that could have been resolved into an opportunity for a "cheap headline." His message also said that more information would be released soon to buttress AA's position.

Carty's going to the mat on this. If you're agent's wrong, he better quit now.

You are so right, sinkspur. Precious and few are those who would stand in the face of an accusation like this and NOT back down, perhaps endangering thousands of lives by doing so. CAIR has wielded an awful lot of power since the clinton years. Thank the gods that be that clinton is no longer calling the devil's tune.
As I said before, I believe in my heart that CAIR used this agent to set up a high profile news story to force the airlines to stop heavily screening Muslims. NOW is not the time to lessen the screening procedures. After the explosive shoe incident, it should be even heavier.

Well since the event was supposed to have occured on Dec 25, then that provided plenty of time for any number of people to pass this story on to the press and CAIR. BTW, is the NY Times the first paper to cover the story. My experience is taht they often take their time and/or never publish some things. I heard it on TV either the 25th or 26th so the story was out there before the NY Times article.

He also said that it is unfortunate that some have escalated a situation that could have been resolved into an opportunity for a "cheap headline." His message also said that more information would be released soon to buttress AA's position.

Yes, the incident has made them look pretty stupid to all but the rabid, lets lock up all arab crowd. One week they let a terrorist on board with a bomb, the next they ban a Secret Service agent without even checking his Identity and they failed to have an armed Arab at the gate detained for further questioning. That plus the public admission that Airline ID's are stolen all the time and can be easily faked must give their potential customers great confidence in the system.

YOu may think the Agent will get fired over this but I say if there is any way, this pilot will find himself among the next group of American layoffs for bringing this unwanted publicity down on the airline. And while you think those here on FR are with you and the Airline, all most of the public knows is one week American let a terrorist on board with a bomb and then the next week, they booted a Secret Service agent. That dont make American look good.

Well I dont agree with you here. I think ideally any of those that have taken up arms against the US, including Johnny Walker, should be shot on site. There should be no prisoners unless they provide useful intelligence.

Lots of the public who listen to talk radio, especially here in Dallas, think the agent is a putz. Mark Davis, in his national show today, called the pilot a "hero."

The chairman has full confidence in his crew and in what has happened.

One week they let a terrorist on board with a bomb, the next they ban a Secret Service agent without even checking his Identity and they failed to have an armed Arab at the gate detained for further questioning.

"They" didn't let a terrorist on board; the French government is in charge of security at Charles deGaulle airport.

You're starting to get hysterical again, Dave. I know you're pissed that nobody here agrees with you, except that Aussie.

I'm sure when there's a calm resolution of this, because it's in EVERYBODY'S best interest, you'll claim victory.

AA's gonna come out smelling like a rose, and the agent will too.

Left out in the cold will be the professional pimps, Jim Relman and CAIR.

A book on the Mideast is a book on Islam.

Whatever, you and Bill Press and the chip-on-his-shoulder agent are right. Racism is rampant and this Arab hating racist pilot should have let the "I-can't-pull-my-head-out-of-my-ass" Agent onto the airplane despite his acting suspicious. Wow.

I am glad you are not the President then. If we did this we would lose world support very fast, truly falling down to near their level. If we get reports of a Terror Base we bomb the heck out of it killing everyone, that is fine. But when someone surrenders we do not shoot them unless we do not have sufficient force to guard them.

As far as Jonny Walker it is possible he could still be executed. But by then we will have everything out of him we can get. We may let him live out most of the rest of his life in prison also. This would allow others we capture to at least think that if they coroperate they might live. If they know they will die anyway we will learn nothing from them. If we keep them in prison for at least 40 years with no chance of probation, and very limited outside communication, they will not harm us.

P. S. Thanks for all the help defending this most likely innocent Agent.

P. P. S. I have changed a lot of ideas after watching how sucessfully Bush has governed. Everytime so far that I thought he messed up, it latter turned out he didn't. Overcoming Florida was unbelievable. I believe God is blessing GW Bush.

A book on the Mideast is a book on Islam.

Im sure that youre aware that there was a Mideast prior to the rise of Islam in the eighth century. In fact, most feel that civilization began near the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers (present day Iraq). They had huge cities and created marvels such as the Pyramids while Eurpeans were hunter gatherers wearing skins for clothing.

BTW, we owe a great debt to our Arab neighbors. They created our present number system which enables us to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Prior to adopting their number system, the world was burdened with Roman Numerals which are only decent for use in outlines or the faces of buildings. Also they kept alive much of the early religious and historical documents from early civilizations. While Early Christians were goign around burning any documents which didnt support their beliefs, the Arabs were collecting documents and building vast libraries. The largest library in the Ancient world was in Alexandria, Egpyt before it was torched by the Romans when they came after Marc Anthony and Cleopatra.

Well that sounds good to me. I dont like those pimps either.

With cooler heads on both sides, this shouldnt have occured. I have a feeling that much of this was driven by the flight attendant perhaps not communicating with the pilot and knowing why the agent left the plane and then rummaging through his things, she finds a book which apparently she only looked at the cover of before she ran to the pilot. Her behavior may have spooked passengers on the flight. Who knows. I do hope we get the skiny on what really happened but youre probably right, we will never know because of the lawyers.
