Here's one from Karen who's from upstate, New York. Big territory. "Bill, I almost always agree with you, but you are really wrong on this one. The pilot did exactly the right thing. And anyone who believes a government ID cannot be forged is living in a fantasy."

Bush said he'd be mad IF there was racial profiling.

As to why the pilot didn't call the Whitehouse....why should he? The burden of proof was with the agent and the pilot had a bunch of people sitting on a plane waiting to take off. You're not reading the reports that were filed after landing.

Uh, have you noticed that you are the only one here who thinks the pilot was wrong? Have you asked yourself why that might be?

I know I've asked myself why someone would be registered for 4 years and have NO bookmarks. That usually indicates a liberal disruptor. Gee, that must be it!

Total BS. What EVER would make you assert something like that? I have met them on several occasions. They joke about nothing. They are so serious about their job they just sort of ignore you. They want to blend in. They go through an unbeliveable array of test and training before being accepted as agents. 90% wash out.

Pilots go to bars and get drunk then fly planes. They get fired then fly for commuter airlines. They get away with all kinds of things.

If this agent is lieing he will in fact be fired if not jailed. If he did the things the Pilot aleges jail is a real possibility. This suit could never save his job. The things it alleges would cause his own firing if false. He asserts the book was not in Aribic or any other Mid-Eastern language and he does not speak any. This is a legal document if he bore false witness he can be fired and jailed.

The pilot couldn't even spell correctly in his statement as the CSO couldn't. I'll forgive this most wouldn't. Their statements were not made under penalty of purjury. Their statements comflict with themselves as I have pointed out.

I don't know what your purpose is here, but you'll forgive us if we're skeptical.

LOL, I guess the secretary that wrote up the reports for the press release didn't spell check the document. Amazing that ImphClinton is the only one who noticed it. Of course, he can't figure out that a secretary transcribing has nothing to do with a pilot's (or his manager's) ability to spell.

Explain Bookmarks I never used them I just search for things when I have questions.

If you check back you will see a lot of post during Clintons last two years in office. I believe he is the worse thing that ever happened to america. Dashel is the second worse thing.

As I said it is seldom that you guys are out of touch with the truth. But none of you have posted anything that makes me think anything other that this pilot is a biggot. If he believed this was a fake agent he should have called the White House and he didn't. I believe he wanted to hurt Bush and thought this just might do it.

Something weird going on here. Only posts about this topic.

And I suppose he thinks pilots joke around about passengers on their planes who carry guns. Especially now. NOT.

That's almost funny, coming from *your* keyboard. We'll just have to speculate as to why you apparently have a big problem with airline pilots exercising their authority.

I noticed that too. I'm turning in for the night, it gets boring arguing with someone who distorts the facts. Night

Am I the only person on this board that has read Tom Clancy's Executive Orders?

If so, let me be the first to tell you, the president's ARAB/AMERICAN agent was a SLEEPER!

Funny, I only found one post of yours on Google (11/28/2000 12:50:29 PST):

"Don Adams was arrested in Baltimore MD when he was beaten and nearly killed by Democrat Teemsters."
FYI, It was Philadelphia, unless Bill Press says otherwise.

Just an Arab not worth the time to spell check the document.

I believe this pilot didn't want anyone on his plane with a gun, knew this guy was SS and figured he could get away with kicking him off anyway. I am sorry but it makes me feel less safe that some pilot can keep the Presidents Guards away from him. This Pilot is a biggot and does not deserve to continue flying without some serious training.

Just what facts did I distort??

I am sorry but this is one white man who hates seeing people misstreated. The agents seatmate verifys the agents story as do the two other passengers who have come forward. No one at AA even claim they tried to verify this man's identity other than having him fill out forms, until this Agent was denied boarding of the flight. When I get to a plane 90 minutes ahead of time go through all the proper procedures have a valid ticket I expect to be boarded. If there is a problem 90 minutes is enough time to solve it. They didn't even try to solve it though. They just assumed this Arab would sit down like a good boy and not cause a problem when misstreated. This is Airline Arrogance gone amock.

That was after Bush Won the election. Check in 98 and 99. I posted a lot about the florida election in 2000. However generally John-haung1 (I think that is his name) almost always beat me at posting. Most of my posting has been replies. My modenm doesn't let me find things very fast. And I listen to Fox news a lot for news. My modem also makes me a slow surfer of the net. Besides why surf when you guys find the good stuff for me. I seldom miss a day reading Free Republic.

From the evidence available so far, it appears that the captain made the right call. According to the testimony posted by McGavin earlier on this thread, other airline employees also said that the agent became belligerent when they got to the point of wanting to call and check on his identity. That, coupled with his apparent difficulty in filling out a form (something no government employee should have difficulty doing, one would think) puts him in the wrong. Unless others can confirm the agent's version of events, I choose to believe the account of the captain and airline employees.

And as for ImphClinton's defense of the agent, you said something rather absurd in post #28:

Seems the President should outrank any captain. The president ordered this man on to this flight to protect the President. This Captain had no right to refuse passage without even bothering to call a local number.

The president may be commander in chief and the leader of the free world, but he doesn't "outrank" anyone when it comes to private enterprise. He has as much right as anyone to come down to my or anyone else's workplace, but neither I nor anyone else is obligated to follow any "orders" he may give to a private citizen regarding his job.

One other thing that bothered me: in this day and time, this "atmosphere," if you will, why on EARTH would this guy be carrying a textbook about the history of Islam? I mean, if I know not to carry that onboard, why wouldn't a Secret Service agent have the sense not to????

Man, you're going too far with that one. People do NOT proofread other people's dictation/typing.

I think you're WAY too defensive about this whole thing.

This was sort of a joke. The President is Commander and Chief and Captain is a rank in the Air Force. All I ment is this pilot should have respected the President enough to at least try to verfy this agents identity. He should have called the Whitehouse. The number is easy to find. Had this been some podunck sheriff it would have been different. In fact this Pilot did this so some sherriff a while back and that is fine with me. The President of the United States deserves the utmost respect and deserves to have his agents guarding him. This dis-respectted the President as well as this agent.

Fair enough. Sorry if my sarcasm/humor detector is off — I can't tell with some people at this site. However, I don't view this incident as "disrespecting the president," but rather one pilot making a judgement call and erring on the side of caution to ensure the safety of his flight. Also, once again, while I don't doubt the honesty of secret service agents in general, it seems that the pilot's side has more evidence to support it. Since both the agent and the pilot have a motive to lie, it seems fair to judge who is tellng the truth based on who has more independent support of their account.
