What country are you talking about? Politicians in this country were almost always "career politicians."

That's right. That's the problem.
The "career politicians" don't give a hoot about the normal everyday person or, IMO, a lot of them about their country.
All they care about is winning the next election because they don't have a job that they can go back to.
