Posted on 01/03/2002 3:27:12 PM PST by VaBthang4

On todays program Benny Hinn announced that he had a vision and the Lord explained to him that the Lord was going to topple the current government of Iran.

He said that the Lord would show favor to the people of Iran because of the assistance Persian Kings gave in rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem [2 Chronicles 36:23,24].

The feed is a video of the "this is your day" program.

Some of the heresy hunters are the most frightening prospects out there. Instead of following them and the vain philosophies of men, ask Jesus to baptise you in the Holy Spirit and read the Bible and let the Lord instruct you

First of All, I recommended Christianity in Crisis because it contains a detailed account of false teachings. In fact, I heard that if you order the audio book you can heard actually hear them making the false teachings.

And when we read the Bible and attempt to apply its teachings. We see how hersey was publicly opposed, not ignored. Books of the New Testament were written to refute false teachings. Paul publicly rebuked Peter for his withdrawing from eating with the gentiles(his refusal to eat was a theological issue). And Paul publicly rebuked others by name (see 2 Tim 4:10.)

How would you respond to a minister who persisted in making false teachings? What is the Biblical response?

Save your breath. It is impoossible to save some people from themselves

If you asked any one of them to list the essential doctrines of the historic Christian faith, none of those "professing Christians could do it.

Karl Marx called them "useful idiots". Barnum called them suckers". The religion racket says, "Shhhhhhh!! We couldn't get along without them."

You can name anything you want, but you have no power to really claim anything.
It's not through our power, but the power in the name of Jeses. If He didn't want us to claim what we needed, why did He say: ". . . Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain (i.e., problem), 'Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them."

You will always notice on TBN, where Benny likes to hang out, whenever one of their members has a serious, and real medical problem, that person always, and I mean always goes to a regular doctor, and has medical care done by a clinic or hospital...

So far the medical doctors have been unable to figure out how to surgically remove all that make-up from Jan Crouch, and they're baffled totally by her hair wig -- attempt to remove it surgically, or use lasers? ;-)

We must remember that one of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophesy. (1Cor12:10)

Nicely put. The focus of this thread should be on Benny Hinn. Did he make false prophecies? Did he make unBiblical teachings?

Whither or not the spiritual gifts that the Church had in the 1st century are still in effect today is a separate issue. And one that I suspect would require book-length posts to effectively address.

The key is to "believe that you will receive them". Sounds simple, but it isn't. It is the key to receiving an Answer to God's prayers. BELIEVE.

I do believe Hinn is a smooth Con Artist, prancing on stage in his $2400 silk suit and white bucks. He doesn't impress me as a humble person.

Now, Billy Graham, there is a REAL man of God.

I agree with that. The focus for the believer should be on whether or not Hinn is real or not. I believe the evidence is overwhelming that he is not. There is enough proof (can supply links for those interested so you can hear the false prophecies for yourselves) that he is a false prophet that only those who are deceived still believe in him.

God's gifts are real. His power is real. He still works mighty wonders. However...Hinn is false as a 3 dollar bill.

Jesus also taught us to pray in line with the will of God. What if it is not God's will for a sick friend to be healed physically? What will you do then? Lose your faith?

I know people who believe every word of these so-called preachers and not much of the Bible. One woman has a retarded daughter with mental and physical defects. It was my job to tell her that her daughter would not be 'healed'. She expected her daughter to turn miraculously beautiful and to have full mental function. She was not being realistic. Sure, God could have changed her daughter, but He made her that way for a reason.

God may use everything in our lives to bring us to Him. This includes physical illness.

Forget Hinn and start reading the Bible yourself. It takes discipline, but if you do so everyday, you will find the truth out for your self. Seek and you will find.

Now, I believe in God, and believe in the healing power of Christ...but I do not believe for one moment that these 'fakes' have the power to heal someone....

When these guys pray for a person they do so in the name of JESUS. NONE of them claim to do it themselves. They all recognize that any healing power comes from God, not them.

you will notice that whenever any prominent member of TBN(Trinity Broadcasting Network), has a serious medical problem, they always go running to the real healers, who are the medical doctors...

None of these Christian evangilists that believe in God's healing claim that one does not need a doctor. In their preaching they claim that everyone needs a doctor. The apostle Luke was a doctor. There have been some cults that claim God doesn't want us to use medical doctors, but not true Christian evangilists. Oral Roberts even started a medical school at ORU to integrate God's prayer with the medical profession.

I am not judging him

You've got to be kidding. Venomous contempt drips from every sentence you wrote.

A man that preaches that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life is not a cult.

Sueann said it best (#66) "Touch not God's anointed! (and I didn't say it) If it's GOD, there will be nothing you can do to stop it - if it's not GOD, GOD is more than capable of taking care of it. END

He has you under his cult like spell, and taken away your rational mind

God said we must renew our minds - better get with it.

How would you respond to a minister who persisted in making false teachings? What is the Biblical response?

The biblical response is take someone with you and reprove, rebuke, and if they don't hear you or receive the truth, recognize them as in error and false and go out the door...from such turn away, dust off your feet, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.  They are of their father, the devil and you cannot compromise with Truth.  Ecumenicism is, of course, of the devil and the antichrist and most who say they are Christians seem to practice some form of ecumenicism.

I wasn't suggesting Benny Hinn wasn't false.  He likely is false.  I was suggesting that Hannegraff may also be equally false.  I used to listen to Hannegraff on the radio, then started seeking the Lord and the Lord pointed out many more were false than I had thought and I think Hannegraff spouts many of the false doctrines of the day.  Read false prophets (click here).  Scott Hofstee who accurately prophesied the WTC fall before it happened wrote that anyone selling their ministry is false and that seems right even though it includes a most ministries including radio and tv ministries and the whole Christian Book Seller's Convention.
