of course you realize.. that much of the new testament was written AFTER the book of Revelation right?

Please direct me to any concordance or commentary that states that Revelation was written before much of the NT, thanks.

It was my job to tell her that her daughter would not be 'healed'. She expected her daughter to turn miraculously beautiful and to have full mental function. She was not being realistic. Sure, God could have changed her daughter, but He made her that way for a reason. God may use everything in our lives to bring us to Him. This includes physical illness.

WRONG!! I read the Bible through annually. And God does not cause disease or broken bones to teach us something. Would a loving father cut his boy's finger with a knife to say, "be careful." for if you're not careful this could happen to you? I don't think so. This is where much of mainstream "religion" loses people. God does not cause pain, sickness, disease, or striff to teach us anything. He wants the best for us always. Satan is the God of this world and he causes sickness, death, and strife. The world's reality is to not get well. When Jesus died on the cross He not only died for our sins but also for our health (by His stripes we are healed - Isaiah 53:5). And if reality says "don't believe" then we say it's God's will?

Rockyrich,
You are welcome to seek your riches here on earth by claiming things and stuff. I am not seeking wealth in this life but instead to live in eternity with my Father.
But ... I must say that as I have walked in Him I have found that without ever claiming ANYTHING the Father has added riches to our lives through health, peaceful minds, loving family, and wealth. ALL without one time claiming anything in His Name.

I guess that I’ll throw my 2 cents in.

I have a friend who is a Foursquare pastor in Oxnard, Ca. He had kidney stones a few years ago, and he was healed in an Anaheim Hinn Crusade. One of my aunts in Nebraska attends a church where Hinn was a guest speaker, and some little girl was healed there. On the other hand, I’ve seen him in person, and I was not impressed. He told the ushers not to bring people who were sick on the platform, but he would pray for them after the service. Well, after the service was over, he ran off stage and had a security guard in front of the room he was in so he wouldn’t be disturbed. He has made false prophecies, although I don’t think that he trying to be a fraud. I think that he is so caught up in the super health & wealth doctrine, that he thinks that it’s fine to make millions a year.

Read your history... Revelation was written during Nero's persecution which ended on or about AD 68... via internal evidence and reference to such persecution in chapters two and three... now go and look up the dates on John's own writings AFTER revelation.. and some of the other epistles.

Late dating Revelation, when it clearly addressed the ongoing persecution that historical records indicate ended in ad 68, to 100-105 as some do to make the "warning" applicable to any other writings reeks of smoke and mirrors efforts to canonize what MEN wanted to include or exclude as scripture.

King James interpreters did that. In the interim of 400 plus years of research, many if not most fundamentalist biblical scholars admit that Revelation may NOT have been the last book written in the New Testament... and you could have looked that up yourself. Believe what you want... I don't give a rat's patoot about it. Hinn is the topic here.

Hinn is a deceiver. He is not an accurate prophet. Revelation's warning notwithstanding... it changes nothing. If a prophet says he heard from God and it does not follow on in fact... that person has NOT heard from God... no matter HOW big his comb over is.... somebody hep me....

I did not say that God caused illness, merely that He allows it to happen. He uses all things, all circumstances for good for those who love Him. This good may not happen on this earth. It may mean to bring them to heaven. I do not pretend to know the mind of God, but I do know the nature of God. I know that He is sovereign, that He knows what is best for you, not you. Accepting His will is the sign of a mature Christian. Paul accepted his thorn as God's will. He did not 'name and claim' his own healing.

Don't bother to respond because I am finished posting on this thread. Many tried to help you to see the truth here, I hope that you can.

And please, if indeed Benny Hinn was a 'true' healer, no one would have need of regular doctors...the people Jesus healed, were completely healed...I dont recall the Bible telling of them running off to a doctor for a confirmation....

The apostle Luke was a doctor and Jesus was there with Him. You sound much more at ease this time, you must have spent all your frustration on your first post. I know there are many charlatans out there and am sorry for the people that were duped. But all the fundamentalist christian leadership I hear seem to support Benny Hinn. I was born a Lutheran and married and became Catholic. When I became a born again I searched out a non-denomination church that taught from the Bible and wasn't hung up on theological doctrine developed by man. Many of the fundamentalist concepts are foreign to traditional religious teaching. Like we're spirit beings, God wants us well, the Holy Spirit has gifts that allow us to lead better lives and ward off ills, etc. Most of what's on TBN comes from a fundamentalist viewpoint and doesn't mesh with traditional religious teachings as we see here. I know that we all have our own opinions and viewpoints. Thanks for yours.

Of course satan wants us to suffer - emotionally, physically, in any way possible. And while God may not CAUSE us to be sick or maimed or die, He often ALLOWS it, as He did with Job. He used His faithful servant Job to prove to satan that a mere and fallable human being would remain His faithful servant without all his money, property, family and health.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Take a look at the life of Joni Eareckson Tada - God used her paralysis to forge a great ministry. Without her disability, she wouldn't be where she is today, and long ago stopped praying for healing because she realized that God's purpose was bigger than her desire to walk again. He used her shortcomings to do great things.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Yes, by His stripes we are healed - our sin is gone and our hearts are made whole and clean. We are promised perfect heavenly bodies, but never on this earth are we guaranteed health and prosperity. How can we have the promise of health when we know we are to suffer for His name's sake? Physical persecution isn't physically healthy. :) In this life we are only promised peace and spiritual security.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Ok, It's nice that we agree on more than I thought. My response was more toward those who think that a teacher must never be questioned (i.e. don't touch God's anointed), and those who think that Bible Study is unGodly.

I will checkout that website you mentioned another time, when its not so late, and I'm more awake.

As to whither Hanegraaff is also a false teacher. (And by false teacher, we mean someone who is wrong on major doctrine, not minor doctrine or has bad motives.) I would argue that Hank is OK. He is annoying at times, and sometimes gives bad answers to callers on The Bible Answer Man. If it helps consider some of the guests he has had on his show: RC Sproul, Norm Geisler, James White, John MacArthur, etc. These men are regarded as sound Biblical teachers. I don't think they would be on his show if he was leading people astray.

You mentioned a guy named Scott Hofstee, who said that selling ministries implied a false teacher? That's a little off the wall (if I'm understanding you right.) It simply does not fit the definition of a false teacher. He (Hofstee) needs to provide a Biblical arguement to support that statement. (Having a prophecy come true is not proof, see Deut 13:1-3). And didn't Paul talk about people preaching the gospel for selfish reasons. I believe that Paul said he was glad that the gospel was getting preach.

I agree with you about Hinn. My question to you, however, went unanswered, since you have not directed me to any specific commentary or concordance. And in addition, you added that "many if not most fundamentalist scholars admit"...yet you still don't direct me to any specifics.

But anyway, like you said, the thread is about Hinn, and you don't give a rat's patoot what I believe. Cool...because I don't care if you care either. :) Have a great evening.

To claim something doesn't mean it has to be material. This appliers to anything: health, loved ones' needs, peace of mine, etc. It's intended to cover all human needs.

I'm sure that there is a special circle in Hell saved for the likes of Hinn, Tilton, Baker, and the rest of these flimflam artists. Using people's religion to bilk them out of there money is about as low as it gets.

Is it just me, or is Jan Crouch (the woman on Hinn's show) the scariest mammal alive?!!! YIKES!
