Acting Gov. Jane Swift has chosen a 33-year-old openly gay staff member and former suburban mayor as her running mate in the 2002 election, an administration official told The Associated Press. Swift, 36, planned to announce her selection of Patrick C. Guerriero, later Thursday, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Hey guys, cut the lady some slack! .Being a democrat from Mass. and knowing how other democrats from that state are, she probably wanted a running mate that wouldn't try to constantly come onto her.

The Bay State sinks to another low. Jane Swift's new running mate is a revelation of the parlous state of Massachusetts GOP: its highest elected officials are to the left of most rank and file Democrats in a very liberal state. Odds are Mass. will have a Rat governor by the end of year. I mean with friends like Swift its not like the Republicans need enemies.

That is quite gentlemanly of you ... but Ms. Swift is not exactly a femme fatale. More like a fatal feminist.

Ahh, maybe she didn't want to end up being driven off a bridge by somebody who would stand to benefit?

tacky I know, but Mass. has such a special place in my heart when it comes to politics.

Swift = RINO

It's obviously she picked this guy because of his status an openly homosexual person in government, and NOT because of his qualifications or stances on the issues. "A 33 year old staffer" in the governor's mantion that no one ever heard of??? Geesh. If this guy were straight, his candidacy would be a joke.

Oh, you're pondering the old Kennedy car wash, eh? Hee-hee. Yes, we conservatives who live here have all the fun ... Swifty, Teddy, Dukakis, Barney Frankie, and our own hobbit - Robert Reich.

Maybe Robert Reich will try to one-up Swifty by choosing a handicapped, immigrant, muslim, lesbian cross-dresser.

Janet Reno is already running in Fla.

" The number of actual homosexuals in the population is pretty small."

Huh? Have you been to Provincetown lately? How 'bout Northhampton?

Barney Frank, Gerry Studds...the list goes on and on...someone is voting for these people...

Over here in Phoenix we have Steve May, an excellent conservative representative, who happens to be gay. The state has Jim Kolbe at the federal level, as well.

But...no lie...we're selling our house and moving because it's worse than living in hell.

I lived in Maryland when I was a teen...Hell is an apt description. If you can take the humidity, South Carolina is real nice. Since I can't take the heat, I had to settle for the mountains of east Tennessee...but I visit South Carolina as OFTEN as I can. Parts of Idaho and Utah are also very nice.

Yeah why didn't Swift nominate her lover as her running mate. Now that would have generated quite a media circus!

But the alot of Massholes(idiots who voted Kennedys) are leaving and making the folks in N.H. miserable...

No kidding. Southern New Hampshire used to be a really nice place to live even a few years ago, but the Massachusetts refugees come here expecting government services and vote for higher taxes. They are also driving up the price of real estate so people like my husband and myself will have to move elsewhere to retire. This is the first year since we moved here a few years ago that the property tax rate has increased.
