Acting Gov. Jane Swift has chosen a 33-year-old openly gay staff member and former suburban mayor as her running mate in the 2002 election, an administration official told The Associated Press. Swift, 36, planned to announce her selection of Patrick C. Guerriero, later Thursday, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Gayness is a polarizing force like abortion - either you defend it or you don't, and it can swerve the voting curve nicely when played out to be an issue. Personally, I don't care if the guy is gay as long as it doesn't affect his politics. The only reason I can think of why it's important he's gay and he's in Massachusetts is that their education system that already teaches "fisting" and recruits for gay sexuality will not be challenged if he has any say in the matter. Therefore, it really doesn't matter what else the guy says or claims to stand for. MA has that reputation, as other states have other reputations.
As long as he upholds the Constitution and "services" his majority constituency, they can all live in the same putrid stench. But the kids shouldn't have to grow up being forced into sexual ambiguity while they're still too young to understand the politics.

If the homo running mate can declare that he/she/it has HIV, then the ticket will win BIG.HIV was introduced into the gay population by the vast right wing conspiracy.

I really didn't think she had a chance to get elected anyway - it's too bad...
She doesn't. She's a patronage sow, an inept bumbler, and a governor by accident only. At least three republicans said "no thanks" to her request to be her running mate before she settled for this poor young puffer from Melrose. Rappaport is going to beat him like a redheaded stepchild in the primary anyway.

It only bothers the NH natives when the flatlanders forget to leave their socialist ideas at the border.

I wouldn't care if the guy was queer, but Swifty is trolling for votes. Das Reich is a carpet bagger and Mass doesn't take to kindly to that sort. The Rats will run O'Brien, Gavin is to much of a commie.
As Sam Adams pointed out there are a lot of Conservitives in Mass, Rat and Republican. If Swifty wasn't such an air head, she would run slightly to the right of the Rat position. She is playing poker with another mans deck.

Yes, I know about it. It may get passed but it doesn't matter. We also voted out the seatbelt law and that came back when Beacon Hill decided it liked the insurance companies' money better than us and crammed it down our throats again.
A Democrat give up a tax revenue stream!? HA!

"I live in Massachusetts about 30 miles NW of Boston. I wouldn't live anywhere else. " Bless you, my brother-in-arms.

"im a conservative from massachusetts, in the minority you might say!" I know. It gets discouraging at times. Although, the nice thing about beating your head a gainst the wall is...it feels real good when you stop.
But then again, I ain't about to stop.

I'm going to slip across the line in a couple of years, I don't vote for Rats EVER.

People live in Mass.....on purpose??Almost had to clean up my keyboard on that one!
You have a point -- spent nine months in that state because of an Education with Industry assignment from the Air Force that caused our family to be stationed there! That night after the movers packed up the truck, we left that state as "I" would not spend another night in it and "I" vowed never to return. Since 1986, "I" have never set foot back there!
As you can guess the opinion of MA was not totally unanimous in this household, but two of the kids and I had the deciding votes -- the youngest was too small to vote or it would have been 4-1!

Some of us just can't pick up and leave, even though we'd like to. There are plenty of fine, right thinking citizens up here. Just not enough. I'm with you Sam. Though I don't live in Taxachusetts, I live in a state what's even worse.
Merryland!
Let's see, we have the Santa haters and don't forget that little matter of smoking in your own home. Then there's Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (see? they're EVERYWHERE) who's about to be our Governor. This woman is the absolute dimmest bulb in any lamp. Then there's Glendenning ....
Husband and I are packing up and moving as soon as we can. Serious. And I've lived here all my life. Guess where husband is from? Massachusetts!
Maybe someday all conservative people will leave the awful states thrust upon them through no fault of their own. That'd get their attention.
But...no lie...we're selling our house and moving because it's worse than living in hell.

"HIV was introduced into the gay population by the vast right wing conspiracy." According to Maxine Waters and the rest of the hate-whitey/America crowd, the CIA invented it to wipe out "people of color".
However, homo liberal politicians wear AIDS and HIV as a badge of honor.
I vaguely remember a race in San Fransisco where candidates where trying to out do each other by anouncing that they had HIV and AIDS as a political virtue.

I can sympathize with your Maryland affliction. My sister in law lived there for almost 10 years and was miserable. She recently moved back here with family in Massatuskey.
She has a condition known as RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrohpy) and went to Johns Hopkins for treatment for 3 years and they were abysmal! She is currently getting treatment at Brigham and Womens in Boston and is receiving much better care.
I went down there to help her pack up and move and I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
