We are a big county. Small tax base. No big business' We locals will clear our own roads with our own tractors. It will take us a few days to get to everyone. But we will!

I saw that on the news a while ago. It's gotten bigger. I'm pulling for at least 6 inches of snow so I can just take another 4 day weekend!!

I guess we get it so rarely -- especially "big" snow -- that we just go crazy.

Believe me, I understand how you feel. I was born and raised in South Carolina. I had the same childlike love for snow that all southerners have, once. Then I joined the Navy and went to boot camp in Great Lakes Illinois. I still vividly remembet that November day when the flakes started falling, and falling... and falling. We southerners were crowded up to the barracks windows with out noses against the glass watching the snow accumulate. We saw the officer walking down the snow covered sidewalk in front of the barracks. We saw him slip and fall. We roared with laughther. Then we saw him look up at us, jump up and run into our barracks. Then the CHIEF came in and told us where the snow shovels were.

I tell you what. That snow might look nice covering a southern country landscape, but a few hours on the blister end of a snow shovel every day for a month will change your mind forever.

What about the snow action in Apex NOW bud? 55's covering up quite nicely and as for those Wussy southerners running scared and panicing that Kroger down the street seemed more full of minivan and SUV drivers from Cary than it did Southerners

The snow flakes here are very fine. I remember as a child once seeing big globs of snow...the size of silver dollars or larger...falling. It was a magical sight that I have planted firmly in my memory.

I had to call my stepdaughters and my niece and nephew to remind them to get MANUAL can openers. I don't think they've ever seen one!

My friends who stocked up for the Y2K thing laughed when I said that the only preparation I had made was to buy a manual can opener. Guess who had the last laugh. LOL!

ROFL!

Believe it or not, my daughter prefers a manual can opener to my electric one. That's the only "old-fashioned" gizmo she likes, though .... *grins*

T, I have been listening to The Weather Channel all day long; they are talking about Raleigh and Richmond and places north getting creamed. I KNOW you'll get a ton!

That's the spirit.

Make sure your elderly friends and neighbors DO NOT TRY to shovel the snow. It's probably wet, heavy stuff in your neck of the woods. And hopefully no one tries to WASH the snow off their sidewalk and driveway with a garden hose!

My dad (who's from Ohio and should know better) did that to a convenience store parking lot in a California mountain community. Yours truly then had to shovel the wet slush.

It just started snowing in Greensboro, NC about 15 minutes ago. My deck is lightly covered. Weather forcast is possibility of 4 to 6 inches. I think Raleigh and eastern part of the state will get the most. Happy New Year to all.

Wasn't it great!. When you were just a "little one".

Even though your parents were standing at the door or looking out the window to make sure you were safe.

Oh, it was fun! Snow, Ice, Cold ....^^^^^$%$#

It WAS fun.

Not a flake has fallen around Roxboro as of 8:36 PM eastern. I predict that we will not get even a trace-of course that is the same prediction I made two years ago when we recieved two feet of snow. Took me nine days to get out of my driveway. My fingers, toes, legs, and eyes are crossed. Got plenty of bread and beer this time though-fool me twice shame on me.

Light coating in my yard at this time. As far as southern wussies go, plenty of southerners drive SUVs and minivans. But aside from that, people need to relax. Its only snow. I remember when I first moved here, if there was a possibility of a storm the local tv channels would put LOAFS OF BREAD in the corner of the screen. The more loafs, the worse the coming storm.

Now tell me some yankee was in charge of programming and came up with that great idea. And tell me it doesnt tell the viewers to go to the store and stock up.

Yankees can drive in the snow. Southerners can not. And no one can drive on the ice. And down here in the south, when you get snow you get ice. Up north the ground is frozen at this time of year (normally) and when the snow hits it stays snow. Down here the ground is still warm. The snow melts and then it freezes at night turning everything into ice.
