a growing Muslim population

Really? Will this ultimatly be any different than the Israel lobby (whose supporters dominate the Democratic Party in South Florida and vote 85% Dem nationwide) lobbying to send my tax dollars to their country. What about the Greek, Armenian and Cuban lobbies? I think middle eastern immigration will be good for our foreign policy, as it will ultimatly make it more balanced than what it has been.

Try this, American business are handicapped with income taxes, real estate taxes, increased costs because of government regulation - all of which are reflected in the price. While foreign goods comes in tax-free and, in fact, can be subsidized by their governments. The American business horse is carrying the government handicap on his back. We need a tariff to equalize the horse handicaps. Now how about sticking to the book?

The problem isn't that foreign goods are coming in without tariffs. There certainly are tariffs on a lot of different foreign goods; usually, those tariffs are responses to obvious dumping of goods such as steel and semiconductors. The actual problem is that the cost of doing business in the United States is too high. The only way to reduce the cost is to eliminate high taxes (income, business, real estate, etc). You can't simply pass the problem onto other countries. You have to start here -- with our state and federal legislatures. If you place tariffs on foreign goods, other countries will retaliate by placing tariffs on our goods. The result is that goods are artificially inflated and, hence, we all pay a higher price. A better strategy is to eliminate taxes of all kinds.

This is probably going to get lost in the sheer volume of this thread, but what, I say again, what is with the obsession certain Catholics (Sobran, Buchanan) have with whiteness? The word "Catholic" means "universal," not white. Not only that, but the values that Pat rails against are those of the urban, upper middle class, white Europeans and Americans. In sub-Saharan Africa and South America, on the other hand, Christianity is vibrant. If our atheist intelligentsia want to contracept itself out of existence, people like Buchanan should celebrate. He claims to be a devout Catholic, and yet he throws an incredible fit that we are being inundated with Catholic Mexican immigrants. Good heavens, if the 16th century Spanish monarchy had thought like Buchanan, they'd have made no effort to convert their Indian subjects, since Christianity obviously goes with whiteness. A more important question is this: Pat Buchanan is scared to death that those awful brown people will outbreed the West, which is contracepting itself out of existence, and yet...

How many children does Pat Buchanan have, exactly?

Buchanan thinks like a raging racist.

You have got that right, Sister! The Western Ideals of Individual Liberty and Freedom are alive and well around the world. But Pat thinks, if it's not White, it's not Western!

Anyway, it matters little. Here is what the world will look like by 2012:

Not a lot of land left in China, or western/central Europe, and lots of new lands to conquer!

It is incredible how despite the anticlericalism of the Mexican Goverment, Catholicism thrives among at least 85% of the Mexican populace. When I was there last year, the Churched were full during every mass.

Scum never morphs into non-scum. Pat just can't help himself.

The Libertarian Party - The Best Friend Illegal Terrorists Could Ever Hope For

IMMIGRATION

We hold that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality. We condemn massive roundups of Hispanic Americans and others by the federal government in its hunt for individuals not possessing required government documents. We strongly oppose all measures that punish employers who hire undocumented workers. Such measures repress free enterprise, harass workers, and systematically discourage employers from hiring Hispanics.

We welcome all refugees to our country and condemn the efforts of U.S. officials to create a new "Berlin Wall" which would keep them captive. We condemn the U.S. government's policy of barring those refugees from our country and preventing Americans from assisting their passage to help them escape tyranny or improve their economic prospects.

Undocumented non-citizens should not be denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about unmolested. Furthermore, immigration must not be restricted for reasons of race, religion, political creed, age, or sexual preference.

We therefore call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol, and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally. We oppose government welfare and resettlement payments to non-citizens just as we oppose government welfare payments to all other persons.

Sobran is a smart guy who has gone batty since the neocons got him fired from National Review for criticizing their homeland of Israel. Pat, on the other hand, is a classic Irish-American thug, an embarassment to his own people.

How about scraping the income tax and tariffs and going to a sale tax? In the end, only people can pay taxes anyway. US companies don't pay income taxes and foreign companies don't pay tariffs. The people who buy the products pay both taxes. At least let the people see how much they really pay on their sales receipts .

It's like asking what the Nazis thought of Einstein or other non-Aryan scientists. Had Einstein stayed in Germany, he'd have been tossed in the camps with everyone else. In short, you're simply not dealing with rational people.

Why they've chosen to infest FR I don't know. I wish they'd attempt to take over DU or the left in general. They have no place on the Right.

If EVERYTHING in the Libertarian platform were to be implemented, illegal immigrants would leave pretty rapidly, because without public assistance, this is a LOUSY country to be poor in.

I know, but I still like to expose their irrationalism whenever I see it.

Thing with Buchanan is that his views, thanks to the left-center media, get to be the face of conservatism. If we don't make it clear that he's well outside of the mainstream of the Right, the conservative movement will be politically neutralized.

Is Mexico a racist country because it has immigration policies it enforces?

I picked those two only because Muslims have the money to buy influence disproportionate to their population, and illegal Mexican immigrants have the voting block to pull most of the influence in the coming decades. It could be any group, the important thing here is will our Constitution last? And how do we make it important to new arrivals when it's not even really taught in school, nor is the undoctored history of this nation. How can we make it important to people who are taught to hate everything about us from the get go when our media, schools, politicians have created and promoted such a terrible image of us that they are guilty and jointly responsible for 9-11?

Yes. Mexico has a long history of class and race distinctions moving from the light-skinned ruling classes to the darker meztizos we in States normally associate with "Mexican". Guess who tends to be richer and who tends to be poorer. Mexico's loss is our gain and eventually their closed society will do them in.
