THREE Saudi men were beheaded yesterday for committing homosexual acts and "seducing young men".

The trio were executed in the southwestern mountain resort city of Abha.

They were accused of homosexual acts, "marrying each other", seducing young men and "attacking those who rebuked them".

They were the first people to be put to death this year in the Arab state.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islamic law and carries out executions in public, using a sword.

Last year, at least 81 people were beheaded in Saudi Arabia, where the death penalty is imposed for murder, rape, drug trafficking and armed robbery.

In my personal opinion, no. I believe homosexuality is wrong but I don't believe someone should be killed because they are caught in the act of having sex with a person of the same sex. Islam is not a religion of freedom and any country that is under Islamic law has people that are deprived under any freedom. The freedom of religion in Islamic countries bothers me more than anything.

'Attacking those who rebuked them' sounds like attempted rape- if it was, a death sentence for that sort of violence is no biggie.

Of course, the investigators might or might not have needed real evidence- if it is easy to frame someone over there.
