Imagine if someone had told you back in 1992 that during the next eight years you would see the following: 1.) the top capital gains tax rate would be reduced from 28% to 20%, a tax cut that benefits "the rich"; 2.) cigarette, gasoline, and payroll taxes, which disproportionately affect "the poor," would be higher; 3.) welfare as a Federal entitlement would cease to exist; 4.) the number of Americans with no health insurance would rise from 35 million to 40 million; 5.) the President would salute Chinese troops in Tiananmen Square in an attempt to "coddle Chinese dictators"; 6.) the President would authorize the release of classified military information to Red China in exchange for campaign contributions; and 7.) the President would face a civil lawsuit and a subsequent Federal criminal investigation for an incident involving sexual harassment of a subordinate.
I'm willing to bet you that 95% of people who described themselves as "liberals" in 1992 would have looked at those things and said to themselves: "Sh!t, that means there's going to be a Republican in the White House at until 2000 at least!"
