WE'LL SURVIVE NUCLEAR WAR, SAYS INDIA
India boasted yesterday that it would survive a first strike by a Pakistani atomic weapon, but its neighbour would be wiped out in a swift nuclear counter attack.

What is the reaction of the United States to a nuke stike against Pakistan that kills some of the Americans now stationed there? Do we consider that it is a hostile strike against us? That almost makes our servicemen hostages to our own foreign policy.

There have been hundreds of above ground nuke tests. They were stopped when the strontium-90 was discovered to be getting into the baby milk. The planet was covered in fallout. Still is.

I think it would be the water table that is contaminated. Either way, there are costs!

"Much depends on whatever may be the US response. My hunch is the USA would be with India." Even with the best and brightest of our military in the area? I don't see that happening.
Hoo-haa, let's roll ....
Let's not.

If a culture believes in re-incarnations, what's to loose??????????????????????
I like India so no insult meant at their beliefs, but it's their belief so what threat is there in dying?

They don't get "Get Out of Jail Free" reincarnations. If bad deeds accumulate they will get reincarnated as an ant-eater or something. Plus not all Indians are Hindu/Buddhist. One of my Indian acquaintances is Jaineist and their religion is like the Quakers of Eastern Religions.

Probably right...I have a guy at work from India(he hated CLinton for his coddling of Pakistan) I'll talk to him
To: NetValue
You are right NetValue, there are a lot of arm chair generals on the board tonight. Jeez, just what I need, a nuclear war--that really ruins my fair season.
There comes a time when that old refrain "no nukes" actually makes sense.
I think there can be great danger if this "saber rattling" begins to turn for the worse. RIght now the American Population is really not focused. Fat from Christmas dinner and waiting to get drunk tomorrow night for New Years Eve....
One can be conservative ... very conservative and still love peace....of that I am certain...Folks we do not want a nuke going off anywhere. It is madness of the upmost degree.
I have to admit, I am selfish. I live on the left coast, (although in the upper end of the gold country), but still, a conflagration can expand dangerously so to affect not only India and Pakistan, but a greater part of the world...I want to live like any other moke out there, like and Indian or Pakistani....This can not be God's will.

Will the fallout from this nuclear war smell anywhere as bad as these people do in an elevator?
I've got two words for both sides of this conflict -
BAR SOAP!
