It is a good thing, too. With his or her new shotgun, or converted AK47 or handgun that fits in a pocket or purse, the average American is ready for those new terrorist attacks that Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge keeps warning us are bound to occur.
Be prepared son, be prepared.
Taliban supporter (they don't all wear turbans, you know) approaches our door under the pretext of borrowing a cup of sugar, is he in for a surprise!
Comedy and sarcasm is not your strongpoint.
Never mind that putting more guns in circulation will increase the number that end up being shipped overseas to people who actually are terrorists and use their purchases here to spread death and destruction everywhere.
Where in the blue hell you get that idea from? Dan, a full auto AK-47 costs about $50 over in South Asia. It's illegal here without a class 3 BTW, but why pay $300 or so for a semi-auto copy, when I can get 6 of the real thing for the same price without shipping costs. Huh, explain that genius.
Never mind that the statistics are bound to show a rise in accidental deaths
They have been dropping since 1979. Dan, you are bald faced liar.
National Rifle Association, which actually believes one can end a smallpox attack with a magnum.
Pure personal attack with no basis in reality.
They represent the gun manufacturers.
No. The manufacurers have their own lobby. The NRA represents 4.5-5 million people.
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has plenty of documentation of such transactions, which occur because of a loophole that exempts private sales at gun shows from background checks.
Put up or shut the hell up.
There also is strong evidence that most crimes are committed these days with weapons bought at the hundreds of gun shows that take place each weekend.
Where is your source for that???? What evidence? The proven liars at VPC?? Is that it? I think it is. I know. I read that so called report.
How much better it would have been in the aftermath of Sept. 11 for Americans, rather than rushing out mindlessly to purchase ineffective, feel-good weapons, to have demanded the tightening of controls to help keep firearms from those who terrorize the lives of half the world
You say they are so ineffective and feel good, then say they terrorize half the world. That's a contridiction.
Want to strike a blow against terrorism? Demand that Congress end the gun-show exemption.
They used boxcutters, son. You liars in the ASD(Anti self-defense) movement aren't getting through to the public. They are seeing right through you. That's why your buddy Gore lost.
Purchase another firearm to add to the WTR family arsenal, or
Go shooting, particularly if I can take a new shooter with me, or
Write a letter to the editor of my local newsrag, or to one of my elected representatives.
You get the picture. Don't get angry. Get even.
Never mind that the more guns bought the greater chance they will fall into
the hands of people who can truly use them to defend themselves and their families!
Genius may have it's limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped...
I am responding to Mr. Thomassons editorial on lax gun laws. I find several errors in it. First off, he thinks that us gun owners are going to shoot all those of Middle Eastern Descent. I find that his personal attacks take away from any logical point that he is trying to make. It shows that he has no facts to back up his venom.
Secondly, the National Rifle Association has 4.5 million members. The NRA represents those members, not the gun industry.
Third, why would these terrorists buy semi-automatic weapons here in the US, when according to the United Nations, they can buy a fully automatic AK-47 in South Asia for $50 or less. A semi-automatic clone of the AK-47 would cost about $500 in the United States.
Lastly, the comment about most crimes occurred by guns bought at a gun show is a falsehood. The department of Justice says that 0.7% of criminals get guns at a gun show.
Let us combat terrorism by tightening up our borders, and not play up the atrocities caused by terrorists with box cutters as an excuse to trample on the rights of law-abiding gun owners.
The terrorists do NOT buy US guns for use abroad, they buy them from places in Africa and the Middle East, where they are dirt cheap. The only weapon I can think of bought in America and shipped out are high quality sniper rifles.
I don't see how putting more guns in circulation will increase the number the terrorists use, if there were 10 million guns in America, the terrorists would buy twenty and ship them out. If there were 500 million guns, the terrorists would buy twenty and ship them out. More guns does not mean more terrorist guns.
Shame on you Dan.

Seems that this moron forgot boxcutters, they have got to be counted as lethal weapons!
