There is now, it seems, a lethal weapon (not counting knives and ball bats) for every man, woman and child in the United States. How comforting.
It is.

It is a good thing, too. With his or her new shotgun, or converted AK47 or handgun that fits in a pocket or purse, the average American is ready for those new terrorist attacks that Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge keeps warning us are bound to occur.

Be prepared son, be prepared.

Taliban supporter (they don't all wear turbans, you know) approaches our door under the pretext of borrowing a cup of sugar, is he in for a surprise!

Comedy and sarcasm is not your strongpoint.

Never mind that putting more guns in circulation will increase the number that end up being shipped overseas to people who actually are terrorists and use their purchases here to spread death and destruction everywhere.

Where in the blue hell you get that idea from? Dan, a full auto AK-47 costs about $50 over in South Asia. It's illegal here without a class 3 BTW, but why pay $300 or so for a semi-auto copy, when I can get 6 of the real thing for the same price without shipping costs. Huh, explain that genius.

Never mind that the statistics are bound to show a rise in accidental deaths

They have been dropping since 1979. Dan, you are bald faced liar.

National Rifle Association, which actually believes one can end a smallpox attack with a magnum.

Pure personal attack with no basis in reality.

They represent the gun manufacturers.
No. The manufacurers have their own lobby. The NRA represents 4.5-5 million people.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has plenty of documentation of such transactions, which occur because of a loophole that exempts private sales at gun shows from background checks.

Put up or shut the hell up.

There also is strong evidence that most crimes are committed these days with weapons bought at the hundreds of gun shows that take place each weekend.

Where is your source for that???? What evidence? The proven liars at VPC?? Is that it? I think it is. I know. I read that so called report.

How much better it would have been in the aftermath of Sept. 11 for Americans, rather than rushing out mindlessly to purchase ineffective, feel-good weapons, to have demanded the tightening of controls to help keep firearms from those who terrorize the lives of half the world

You say they are so ineffective and feel good, then say they terrorize half the world. That's a contridiction.

Want to strike a blow against terrorism? Demand that Congress end the gun-show exemption.

They used boxcutters, son. You liars in the ASD(Anti self-defense) movement aren't getting through to the public. They are seeing right through you. That's why your buddy Gore lost.

"Never mind that putting more guns in circulation will increase the number that end up being shipped overseas to people who actually are terrorists and use their purchases here to spread death and destruction everywhere." (Detroit News)

The "mainstream" media sure is dumb. Any terrorist really gonna spend $300-800 on any non-full-auto gun here in the U.S. and then pay high international freight rates to ship it - and heavy lead and brass - back to their gun-soaked homelands like Lebanon or Afghanistan, where antigun nuts claimed months ago that a full-auto AK-47 goes for $12?

Scandals of antigun politicians and activists - coast to coast

Where do these idiots come from? Are they the product of incest?States that allow concealed carry have seen reductions of violent crime. But I guess we wouldn't to confuse this fellow with facts.

This is just a rehash of illogical tripe pushed by slightly better minds than the author himself. Who needs people to regurgitate this crap besides the newspaper publishers?

If guns can't protect us from terrorists, than why worry if guns get into the hands of terrorists? If they aren't going to use guns to terrorize us than access to guns is a mute point. And does Dan "the myn" Thomson really think that Pakistani terrorists are coming to America to pay more for less weapon than they can get pilfered from any third world military armory?

In some instances pushers of ignorance are more dangerous than pushers of drugs.

My family just had "bring your guns to Grandma's" today. The youngest shooter was six years old. We had a great meal and then all went outside to target shoot. We had pistols, shotguns and rifles. Plastic water jugs for targets. Fun was had by all.

Bring on those airliners aimed at our front porches...

Snotty bastard.

Never mind...

Never mind that the one attack that was stopped on Sept. 11 was stopped by "the people."

Not the government, not the military, not the police, but the "people" that the Second Ammendment refers to.

Good rebuttals, Dan. You're a powerful voice for gun owners. But expect this drumbeat to continue. It's the gun-stealers' latest talking point. I expect it took Sarah Brady and her gun-hating Svengalis two or three hours to come up with this specious "linkage." It'll work on the soccer moms. But that is a group that's never been noted for its intellectual horsepower.

I think what he is trying to say is the terrorists are buying AK47s for $300 and selling at gun shows for $50 and sending the money to the STARVING TERRORIST FUND in Afganistan.

It doesn't matter that his gibberish is a lie. Repeat a lie long enough and it becomes impossible to refute but we must continue to pound them when we can.

I take great comfort in the fact that the gun-grabbers are showing themselves to be getting desperate. Their arguments get weaker, more ridiculous and less based in fact than ever. Instead of exaggerating here and there, they are flat-out lying. Yep, the last gasp of a cornered prey.

Any half-intelligent critical-thinking human being can see the article for what it is....a total bunch of bull-crap. That's not saying very much for the idiots that swallow that spoon-fed regurgitation.

The more we insist on facts to back up their blather, the more they'll have to retreat back into the shadows like the cockroaches that they are.
