Here are your links:

Clive, thanks for the good links.
When the story about the Middle Easterners getting hazmat licences (and some
had commercial trucking licensces...I remember someone here posting the name of a
semi-rig driving school here in aftermath of 9-11), I also thought "maybe they are cutting
in on the Mafia's business of illegal dumping".

Now I hope they are doing something like that...not preparing to blow a bunch of
our refineries to kingdom-come.

OK, here's some conjecture on this one:

1. Didn't the Evildoer recently suggest that hurting the US economy would be a handy thing to do?

2. Given the undercapacity of that industry and the season, wouldn't it be a good time for them to make mischief?

3. Speaking of mischief, did we ever get around to restocking the Strategic Petroleum Reserve after X42 tried buying votes with it?

Then again, it's probably nothing...

Hmmmmmmm...with all that 'stuff' stored underground, I surely HOPE all the Texas steers are FAR away. Otherwise, y'all will have the BIGGEST Bar-B-Q, THAT side of the Mississippi!!!

How hard would it be for a diaperhead to get in the place to blow the underground storage?

"The biggest question I have on this event
is why it took an off duty cop to notice the event.
Where were the on duty security officers?

Excellent question Roebucks!!

Another economy killer would be taking out all of the Mississippi bridges.

No kidding!
As a historical note, I remember seeing the show on PBS's "American Experience" about
Eads, the guy who engineered the first bridge across the Mississippi at St. Louis.
The show said that it was an economic necessity for St. Louis's economy, as it was "on the wrong
side" =west side of the Mississippi, forcing any traffic to/from the populous East Coast to be
laboriously moved across river.
The show mentioned this was one reason why Chicago thrived...because it was on the "right
side" of the river.

As they always say in bidness "Location, Location , Location!"

LOL I just looked behind your name and I liked what you said. “Texan first, American second”. I have always felt like that until September 11th. I know I'm an American, but when I meet someone from another country, I always tell them I'm a "Texan". I don't know why I do that. There must be some weird psychology to explain why Texans are so proud. I make no apologies for my pride but I have noticed I really get on peoples nerves if they “ain't” from around these parts. ROFL

I think Colby said it best, "Every morning when I wake up I thank God for two things. That I'm alive and I'm a Texan". He hit the nail on the head.

So to stay on topic, I pity the fool of a terrorist who thinks he can mess with our state. Wait…I take that back. I don’t pity them.

What a crude thing to say...

Did the guy look like a Middle-Easterner?

Did he have a piece of cloth on his head? (There is a shorter way of saying that, but it offends some of the PC whiners here)
Anyway, sometimes that is a good clue.

I would think that Mont Belvieu and other salt domes are heavily fortified.  Let's hope so, anyway.  Blowing an aboveground refinery like Three Rivers would probably be easier to do than to get access to an underground cavern. And it would be a nice "two-fer:"  damage the refinery, creating a long downtime, plus possibly cause a release of deadly hydrofluoric acid at the same time.  Fun, fun.

An excerpt from the San Antonio newspaper story in #105 above gives the approximate location of one of the photographing incidents:

The first incident occurred on Monday, when an off-duty police officer spotted a man near Interstate 37 taking snapshots of a refinery.

The Diamond Shamrock Three Rivers refinery is located on or near Interstate 37.  Here's a story about a hydrofluoric acid leak caused by a fire at the Three Rivers refinery back in July.  If you'll click on the graphic inset, you can see I-37 on the map.

Workers monitor area for gas release

Excerpt:

"HF is a very toxic and corrosive substance," said Professor Joe Loter of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's physical and life sciences department. "It's a gas but it will also condense into a liquid."

Hydrofluoric acid, also known as hydrogen fluoride, is used by refineries in the alkylation process. The acid is used to maximize the volume of high-octane gasoline that is produced because it is not as volatile as butylenes and propylene, according to information provided by the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission.

The acid can be poisonous if inhaled or absorbed through the skin.

"It's bad stuff," said Susan Clewis, team leader for emergency response at the TNRCC's Corpus Christi office. "It'll eat your bones, you know it does internal damage and destroys bones."

As a resident of Brooklyn, I have seen many things over the years. In 1993 when the WTC was first bombed, those of Middle Eastern pedigree seemed to be indifferent about it. When the bomb went off at the Atlanta Olympics, these “PEOPLE” were in their corner stores laughing about it. When flight 800 went down, these same stores all seemed to open LATE in the morning. For the first 24 hours following the bombing at the Fed. Building in Oklahoma City, there was quiet fear shown by these people until the first report that Tim McVeigh was being charged with that heinous crime. After that it was “All Smiles”. Finally, lets look at 9/11. I and others saw what appeared to be celebrating by these people. The eight block stretch of Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn that is predominately Middle Eastern looked like Afghanistan only without the shooting of guns in the air. All over Brooklyn that day, stores that only had two workers at any given time, were seen having many as 20 natives of that part of the world having what seemed to be a “Grand Ol’ Time”. The press could ignore the festive activities of the individuals that were seen that day, but not the U.S. citizens that witnessed it. During WWII we as a nation interned Japanese citizens, but we were at war with Japan due to the cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor. Over the years many have said that this was wrong. Yet the Japanese were fanatics, not to be trusted. Many innocent people “MAY” have been wronged by these actions, but if only one life was spared as a result of these actions I say “BRAVO”! The time has come for the U.S. as a whole to look at these people, if only for our own protection. We need to look at these people with a magnifying glass. If this means to open Internment Centers as was establish during WWII, I say “So be it”.  Call me whatever “ist” you like, but before you start labeling me remember that I have walked through the bowels of hell. I was only one block from the WTC as the second plane hit, I saw the first tower collapse from the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge and I saw the utter contempt that these people showed, as we tried to make our way back home on that horrific day.

These people are rubbing our noses in our own stupidity. Damn the griping about profiling. We should have started the round-up at 9:15 AM on 9/11. The American people will not be so supportive if we let another attack happen because we were afraid of the PC police. If you can not prove citizenship or have an expired visa, you must go!! It's just a matter of time before we get spanked again.

WORD! Damn straight! I haven't read the thread past this comment of yours, but on other threads, I and others who express similar sentiments are attacked.

The refinery photographer--and any other muslim suspects--- needs to be interrogated with whatever means necessary (read: torture) to learn what his deal is.

We are at war. Political correctness can destroy civilization, and it WILL if good people don't stand up for the absolute righteousness of our way of life, and then defend it at all costs.

Even the libertarians accept that one role of government is to protect its citizenry. There is no conflict in this matter now, with civil liberty. We KNOW what these dudes look like, what their religion is (one that requires them to kill whitey) where they're from. Government is violating NO ONE's rights by coming down on these ragheads with the full force of our nation's might. Those who confuse our liberties with the legitimate restraints and scrutiny that common sense demands we apply to the towelheads are simply sympathetic to the cause of these enemies of ours. The hate America, tear down America crowd. They actually find these mohammendans to be heroes.

The problem is with MUSLIM terrorists, which are 90+% of terrorists. They have bided their time and now think it is time to attack and destroy human civilization, so as to subjugate all of mankind to their unholy religion of mysoginy , intolerance, oppression and violence. PROFILE ALL MUSLIMS! They are the problem.

(Actually, I think the moderate, progressive mohammedans give you three choices: convert, become their slave, or die.)

Thank God for a voice of sanity and reason.

*****100%**** of the terrorists of 9/11 are moslems. Moreover, the precepts of their so-called "religion" REQUIRE them to kill Christians and Jews, and they have been doing it for centuries.

The problem is these moon-worshipping raghead mohameddans. Pure and simple. How much more clear could it be.

This incident I am relating happened less than 10 miles from my house, about 8 weeks ago. Someone attempting to infiltrate a major power plant in the Chemical Valley (WV) attacked a female security guard and fled. They escaped by boat. Allah help them if I had been the guard.

The FBI has been investigating and looking for a "phony" Coast Guard boat since then. My brother, along with several other eyewitnesses who saw it at different times, saw it and contacted the feds. It was about 20 feet long and painted up like a Coast Guard vessel - but not a perfect job. The lettering was greatly off kilter and the "crew" of about 5 people was wearing generic red jackets which were similar, but not the same as CG wears. The boat was moving at a high rate of speed and it was about 35 degrees at the time, but he could still see that they all had dark hair. No Coast Guard hats, which all the Guard guys wear, were evident. When my brother saw them they were near a petroleum tank facility in Charleston.

There are also MANY chemical plants in the Kanawha River valley, including Monsanto, Du Pont, Clearon (chlorine), Dow (chlorine), and Aventis (they make MIC- the deadly Bhopal stuff). These plants aren't just potentially the target of bombs, they ARE potential bombs. In fact, the small town next to the power plant is named Nitro, because nitroglycerine was formerly produced there.

My dad used to work in the unit that made MIC here, a component of the pesticide Sevin. Union Carbide owned it back then. A small leak of MIC in Bhopal, India killed thousands.< Post-Bhopal, the Kanawha valley is the only place in the world that MIC - methyl isocyanate - is produced now. I know about this stuff; it is extremely dangerous. . If something like that happened here it would kill many thousands more because of the valley topography. If the right plant is hit, there could be a HUNDRED THOUSAND deaths due to the MIC gas. If you're not blown up in the explosion, the poison gas will get you. That's why I am taking security here DAMN seriously. We're playing for keeps.< P> I don't know what the safety backups are, but needless to say, a power plant that provides the primary power for the chemical plants in the area could at the very least cause much confusion at these plants. The move on the power plant could have been a "trigger event" that, if successful, could have signalled the beginning of attacks on the other plants. It's easier to cause trouble in the dark.

Needless to say, I am keeping my guard up here, now fully a target in the "war zone." The war is everywhere, and we are ALL soldiers now.

Let's roll.
