Oh my goodness, another spammer, lol. Of course the moderators must now terminate you out of existence for posting "advertisements." In fact, you never did exist, except in a dream I had once....

What the people who are complaining about links to amazon.com may fail to realize is that Amazon regularly gives (perfectly legal) kickbacks to websites when people who buy something at Amazon surfed in via those websites. Though you do not have such a relationship with Amazon, you theoretically could and it would violate the non-profit status of this website.
As an alternative, is it OK for us to just type the URL of the book's Amazon page without actually linking to it?
To: Jim Robinson
Not to be a pain, but doesn't this mean
NO links of any kind?
- can't link articles back to the source (newspapers are in business to sell, well, newspapers)
- can't have a link to any of my sites (banner ads dontcha know)
- can't link to my pages selling "Citizen Clinton" by dead
Maybe I am misinterpreting. Are you trying to prevent "over-the-top" hawking of wares, and prevent pulling banner ads in from outside sites? A total ban on links seems to be using too broad a brush.
Anyway, links are what makes the internet work. It seems counter-productive to go back to "link-less" days.
And if sirgawain's humor post above was the cause of his banishment, why is the post still there?
enquiring minds, etc etc ...

Perhaps the missing poster is experiencing the relatively mild punishment known to the parents of small children as a "time out" - and will soon be allowed to post here again.

And if sirgawain's humor post above was the cause of his banishment It appears, just from rading various threads, that sirgawain has been running amuck for at least the last 12 hours.

We all know that pulling the tigers tail is dangerous sport.
But do those who tweak a paper tigers tail deserve more than a paper cut?

Could you give us some tread titles or examples of amuck-ness?

Look in the "freeper of the year" thread in breaking news... I have been there and that is at least part of it.
To: tpaine
# 74 may have the answer. I have read so many threads today. In one was a comment that this has been going on all night ...

Somehow I get pop-up ads here. I think this was one of the last places to be invaded.
I have a pop-up killer and I use ad-aware to get rid of all those little spyware "E.T.'s" that are always trying to phone home using my bandwidth. The situation on the net as a whole is degrading rapidly. I wish the advertiser knew how many people they were angering.

Thanks. I didn't quite see any amuck behavior over there, but who knows, what with all the comments removed by the mod. -- Sort of a catch 22 situation for those admonished, however. If you protest, you are guilty of a new offense. -
- Dissing the mod.

you don't get popup ads here. FR has no ads, so they must be coming from another source.
