I only got to see the tail end of the session, but I have to hand it to Ann Coulter! She had the sniveling little college commies quaking! She stands up there firm in her principles and doesn't bat an eye! God bless you Ann!

I got the impression Ann did not have the vaguest idea who supported who during this era. Me too. It was a little distressing to see Ann let that little bastard's libel lay there unchallenged.

It was obviously a joke. (A very funny one, IMO.) And I frankly think we need more people to get under the DU's skin. We need to escalate the war of words, not play it Trent Lott style.
We need to wake people up. The present dialogues are putting them to sleep.

Good grief, you're making an awful lot out of one comment, aren't you. So Ann Coulter said something that you disagree with. So what? I was merely pointing out what Coulter has said that her comment meant. I'm not interested in personally planning out every move of a mission into the Muslim world.

The kid didn't even know which Republican president to blame (falsely) for Pol Pot. It was surreal.
To: the_doc
Doc,
You are wrong about her remark being a joke. When she initially made that statement she was perfectly serious and she caught a lot of flak about it because she was serious.
To: StriperSniper
Thanks, sorry that I missed it. She is usually pretty good will try and catch it next time. I did see her answer about the American Indians seems like she got into a little trouble with that one.
To: COL. FLAGG
Why don't you just admit that you didn't mean to use the word absurd?
Hey! Don't be absurd (your definition).
So? You didn't like Coulter's comment? OK. But what she said really pales compared to some of the things Islam tells it's followers. See the site ASK THE IMAM site.

Caught part of this last night...Ann you were fabulous as usual. You go girl ;)

No, I think she was making a facetious allusion to the Constantinian heresy of the Crusaders. The Crusaders thought people could be converted at sword point. Almost no one in Christendom believes this nonsense anymore.
Ah, but the Muslims do accuse us of being Crusaders! So, she pressed the matter with an ironic vengeance. She is always indulging in this kind of flamboyant irony, I might add.
If she was kidding, then why was she canned? Because most people, even most conservatives, do not have a Christian's sense of irony. And most people do not like aggressive Christianity--even rhetorically aggressive Christianity.

what she said really pales compared to some of the things Islam tells it's followersWell, I would hope so. Please don't tell me the best defense of Coulter that you can make is that she is not as irrational as whacko islamic fundamentalists.
Look, I'm a conservative who has been behind Bush all the way in this war. I'm certainly not here to defend islamic nuts.
To: the_doc
No, I think she was making a facetious allusionAh Doc, sorry burst your bubble, but she wasn't being facetious when she initially made that statement in a column that she wrote for National Review shortly after 9/11.
She wrote "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity"
National Review dropped her as a columnist shortly thereafter. They did not consider her words facetious.

Please don't tell me the best defense of Coulter that you can make is that she is not as irrational as whacko islamic fundamentalists.
What she said may be extreme to some but in comparison to the basic teachings of Islam she may be more right than wrong. Time will tell.
From what I have seen, anyone that follows Islam is nuts.

I did see her answer about the American Indians seems like she got into a little trouble with that one. True....but she didn't back down from it.
What great cities did we lay siege to in our campaign?
What great books did we burn?
What statues of great humanitarian leaders did we topple?
Let's face it....the Indians lived barely subsistent lives in a land of great resources and by 1492 had yet to invent the wheel or gunpowder.
They were (by and large) a warring people with no regard for human life.
Ann's point is that from a 21st lens, Post-Columbian Western civilization seems barbaric, but in context, it was the most civilized (and civilizing) culture on the face of the Earth.....
And still is.

You might be right, or might not. All I know is she's willing to throw the verbal bombs and stand there taking the flack for it. Her uniquely-carved place is a niche where no one else has the balls to stand. Pardon my French.
I agree. Few people have the cajones to stand up and take the heat - and lob back a few fireballs themselves today. Ann Coulter is one who will. I truly respect that.
Does anyone know if Ann's presentation is available on audio tape?

Her departure from National Review had something to do with referring to their online editors as "girly - boys" - a comment not entirely devoid of truth.

"My timer went off. Thank God for Ann Coulter" I must agree with you on that, she sets a lot of timers off I am sure.

I agree Ann Coulter is good and I have never seen her back down from any of her statements. I think that more Republicans need to show a little of her.....resolve.
