"What we have here is a failure to communicate!" What is it about this line that is so memorable? I remember this was a question on Jeopardy or some other game show a few years ago, and I remembered "Cool Hand Luke" immediately, although I hadn't seen the movie in 20 years and couldn't remember which character said it or why.

Although I can't remember the lines from the script verbatim, my alltime favorite scene was from
The Bridge on the River Kwai:" When British mission commander Jack Hawkins tries to kill himself because he has been injured and is hindering the progess of the mission, American William Holden grabs him by the shirt and screams at Hawkins, "You're the one who forced me to go on this crazy mission and now we're going to see this mission through until its bitter end!"

I think it's such a great line because it is so applicable in life. I am always finding myself in situations where this seems to sum it up.
It's been a long time since I've seen the movie, but if I remember correctly, Strother Martin is the one who says the line in the movie.
