PITTSBURGH -- AIDS activist, author and playwright Larry Kramer underwent liver transplant surgery and was listed in serious condition Monday.
Kramer's doctors said his condition was improving and was about where it should be after the 12-hour surgery Friday.
Kramer, 66, spent seven months on the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's waiting list. He moved to Pittsburgh in early November to wait for an organ to become available. While many transplant centers oppose the surgery for HIV-positive patients, UPMC's Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute has performed 10 liver transplants on HIV-positive patients since 1997. Eight of the patients have survived. Kramer's HIV has been relatively well controlled, but he suffered from end-stage liver failure caused by hepatitis B.
They're my chittlins, and I'll give them, or withhold them, as I see fit.
Anyone who would donate an organ to an enemy of their way of life is a fool...
And anyone who would risk donating an organ to an enemy of their way of life isn't playing the game for keeps.
Under some circumstances, you're right. But not all.
"...Your belief that we should not donate any organs because of the risk of prolonging the life of a liberal defies any standard of human decency..."
You don't have enough sense to know it, but you're wrong about this.
Odd that you should mention that...
I read an article... Where was that? Or did I just imagine the whole thing? Oh well, it doesn't matter.
The gist of it was that there was a weird mathematical relationship between the number of lives cut short (we all must die at some point) by picky organ contributors AND the minutes spent typing endless, goofy, unsolicited replies by peculiar, slightly effeminate guys like you.
Now, don't take that as name calling. I really do, given the tone and content of your posts, regard you as both 'peculiar' and 'effeminate'. Nothing personal, just an observation of an indefinable quality.
My daughter, whose been reading your posts, labels this indefinable quality as your 'creepiness factor', which she says approaches 10, but I think that this measurement is a little too proprietary to be understandable to you, hence my more general characterization of your temperament as seeming somewhat peculiar and effeminate.
She also says that you're the type who's got to get the last word to be happy.
Is that true?
You make noting that the same is true of myself seem like admitting to a crime.
Are you sure you werent an officer? I met a handful of officers who came across as you do, but no NCO's.
I'll be honest with you, Peep. It gives me the willies to think of you being even minimally in charge of another human being.
I hope that you were one of those straw NCO's who only supervised things rather than men.
Hmmm...
I've seen this before, Peep, and it's not pretty.
They say that, but in their hearts they feel all warm and tingly... You'd better cut her off from reading my posts, if you can.
The rest of you saw... I didn't do anything to encourage her... It's not my fault that she craves something with a little more starch in it...
(Carl Sagan voice here...)
'Beelyuns and Beelyuns'?
(tell me if I got close)
OK.
Here's one...
"...Please cite one statement that I have made that would allow you to conclude that I am effeminate or liberal...Just one..."
Sorry, Peep... It's just that I can see you standing there, wearing a pair of those nancy-boy round wire-rim eyeglasses, in a cheap suit, holding a clipboard, barely able to contain your rage, foamy spittle at the corners of your mouth, repeating over and over in a brittle, trembling voice...
"...Please cite one statement that I have made that would allow you to conclude that I am effeminate or liberal...Just one..."
A Real Guy doesn't really give a rat's ass what anyone else thinks of him, Peep. Real Guys don't try to score nancy-boy talking points like flustered women arguing on a soap opera. Real Guys just trot their stuff out and let the chips fall where they may.
For example, a Real Guy would never beseech:
"...Please cite one statement that I have made that would allow you to conclude that I am effeminate or liberal...Just one..."
Was 'Beelyuns and Beelyuns' too much?
There you go again Peep... I can see that clipboard that you're holding visibly shaking now...
See post 78 for guidance in looking less... Well... Less effeminate.
