KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A member of Afghanistan's interim government said Monday that four Arab al Qaeda members were in a convoy struck by U.S. warplanes last week.
Amanullah Zadran, minister of border affairs, said Stinger missiles and anti-aircraft weapons were fired from the convoy. U.S. warplanes fired back, Zadran said.

This is your vehicle transporting Al Qaeda members:
Any Questions?

P.S. We never had the fun of plinking with 40 mm depleted uranium schnellfuerers, but it'd be worth re-enlisting just to be able to do so! And on such a marvelous firing range!

But, but, but, that is not what Reuters is reporting? < /sarcasm>
Somehow I am not surprised. I had wondered if either this story was entirely false to make the USA look bad, or if the convoy was a mix of Taliban and/of Al Queada and others that were being used for cover, or simply the others still supported the Taliban/Al Queada.

Amanullah Zadran, minister of border affairs, said Stinger missiles and anti-aircraft weapons were fired from the convoy. U.S. warplanes fired back, Zadran said. Well, the US finally got someone on the payroll to give the "right" account of what happened. Took a while.

Reuters was the lead howling dog on this one. They probably got their story from AIP via Babel Fish.

100 guys in a convoy is not a delegation, it's an army!
If you are a friendly (anti-Taliban), then why carry stingers when the sky only contains friendlies (U.S.)?
Dear media pinheads:
Duh!

Another member of Afghanistan's interim government had said that the bombing killed delegates traveling to Kabul for the new government's installation. I guess that this will teach them not to pick up hitch-hikers!

I did see that Reuters, the media outlet that will not call terrorists "terrorists", had about 3-4 stories on this the last couple of days, as if they were to break some huge 'America is very bad' story. If having their own journalists and employees murdered by the Taliban like they were last month, I don't think anything will change their lousy reporting.

I suspected and posted previously that the convoy was likely attempting to move under cover of pretending to be a group of elders heading to the swearing-in ceremony. They may even have been headed there, but it is likely they were going to disrupt the ceremony, possibly going to meet Allah in a great attempt at martyrdom.
It looks as if my suspicions have now been confirmed.

I would bet they were going to Kabul to cause trouble! You think so? Why? Because they were carrying stinger missiles and Anti-aircraft weapons? < /sarcasm>
To: Oliver Optic
Why were they shooting at our planes?
In a war zone when you shoot at someone, expect to be see return fire.
