[history]
ORANGE -- Gene Hunsberger was dying when he heard about the book.
Paralyzed on his left side, barely able to speak, he heard the book was coming back through the work of his grandson.
For the next three years, Evan Hunsberger, then a 13-year-old Boy Scout from Orange, worked on republishing a daily devotional called "Strength for Service to God and Country," the project that would make him an Eagle Scout, attract the attention of the Pentagon and become, in light of Sept. 11, more important than he ever dreamed.

My son had a good Eagle project, we moved and rebuilt a rock wall for a high school environmental grassland project.
We moved a lot of rock and worked a bunch of scouts but nowhere near as much as this project!
But it was a good project for everyone involved!
There is never any reason to have any regrets for an Eagle Project!

I, butter pecan fan, do hereby create and register a new bump list for just these kinds of inspiring stories: The inspiration_list with this article as its inaugural item. Description of list: Inspiring news items about people making a difference for good in the world. Examples which restore faith in our young people and in humanity. And, inspiring editorials too... ALL the stuff that inspires us and helps us to **be better people** and **do better things**. To post or bump to this list, use *inspiration_list (as I just did). |
