Hmm, I always heard that it was too cold for shepards to tend the flock at night in December in the fields, they brought the animals in at night to keep them warm, and that was the reason it could not be December!

I had always heard that He was referred to as "The Lamb of God" because he was to be the sacrificial lamb.

There was a thread here a few months ago in which a very compelling case was made for late September or early October as the actual birthdate of Christ. This was based on references to Scripture as well as a fascinating explanation of what exactly the "Star of Bethlehem" was.

Could it be that these lambs were part of the temple sacrificial system and that since Bethlehem is close to Jerusalem that they were ready for the temple process by remaining close?

Genesis 33 17And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, built himself a house, and made booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.[1]
33:17 Literally Booths
Zechariah 6:12
Nehemiah 8:14-18
And there was very great rejoicing!

The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow theeWhat is this Holy Ghost? All I can think of is the movie Incubis (sp).

1. The Bible does not give us the date of Christ's birth.
2. The Bible no where gives any commandment or description of a celebration of Christ's birth.
If God had wanted us to celebrate Christmas don't you think he would have told us?

Hmmm, puts a little damper on the "The Shepherds would be inside this time of year" theory!!

Chuckle!
Kinda funny to hear you speak biblical!
Merry Christmas to you, and thanks for all the protesting stuff you've done this year.

If God had wanted us to celebrate Christmas don't you think he would have told us? If it were a commandment, yes. It does however say that Jesus is fully God and fully man, and as such we are to worship him. We celebrate birthday's, we always have. I believe if we celebrate birthday's, then we must above all else celebrate the birth of Jesus above all others, which we do.

Where in the Bible does the Bible say that ONLY what is in the Bible is true or praiseworthy?

Cute!! LOL

Most people don't realize the lattitude of Israel. It is pretty far South . They had orange trees by the hotel where I stayed about 20 years ago when I visited over there, in late December. They do occasionally have snow but generally the weather only required a lite jacket. The Mediterrian Sea moderates the weather as it comes South in the winter time.

"If God had wanted us to celebrate Christmas don't you think he would have told us?"
Nope. There are many things not in the bible. It is not supposed to be a literal checklist of what to do in your life, but a guide. Perhaps this is a test of your character? Perhaps God intends that you decide for yourself your devotion and if you will celebrate? A forced celebration by God is no celebration at all, so perhaps this is a test?
