Early Opinion Polls Look Bad for Gore

Al Gore keeps saying he has not decided whether to run for president again in 2004.

But a lot of Democratic voters have reached a decision on that matter, if a new CNN/USAToday/Gallup Poll has it right.

Asked whether the party's 2004 standard-bearer should again be Mr. Gore or "someone else," 66 percent of poll respondents said "someone else."

And there is more.

Two other new polls — by Bloomberg and Fox News/Opinion Dynamics — indicate that even if Mr. Gore should be renominated, he would lose again, by a ratio of more than two to one, if President Bush should again be the Republican nominee.

Will the Times be backing a "Clinton" for the job soon? Either a real one, or a sleazy liberal wannabe imitation? Inquiring minds want to know...

I have to admit, the NYT seems determined not to encourage Al Gore in any way whatsoever for 2004.

I have no idea. But, in the meantime, as the NYT continues to bury Gore and search for the next Clinton, I'll bet it keeps churning out negative editorials about Ashcroft.

The name Daschole is being tossed about as a possible runner for president, indeed, they are saying he has been positioning himself for some time for this.

Surely we're not surprised about the Demoncrats being two- faced about anything?? And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Hillary just "accidentally" gets nominated (and feigns surprise). And, yes, the unions love her- just not all the members.

That would not surprise me if he got the nomination. But, with all these changes in our world in this post 9-11 climate, I think US voters will reward GW with a 2nd term no matter what is happening on the domestic front.

But, you can understand why it is that Daschole wants the economy to tank, he's so resistant to passing Bush's stimulus package, he wants to blane the Republicans, and Bush, for anything that goes wrong domestically, that way he can position himself, he thinks, to having a run for the presidency. Daschole is only thinking of himself and the power he wants as president. He's a true jerk.

Oh, I'm sure the entire Dem Party would love for the economy to tank, and stay tanked through the elections. Then, they can call it a Bush II Recession. Hey - wait a minute - I think they're already doing that! :)

Worst possible choice. Hillary's popularity isn't what it once was and neither is McCain--I've heard many people say after Bush got President, McCain became a crybaby foot stomper and has lost respect with many of his previous followers.

ref your #78....Yeah, me! Daschle is doing his best to upstage President Bush right now and I always thought Gebhardt would if he had the chance....he has always wanted to be Speaker of the House but I think he would jump for the chance to be President.

FYI, Rangel Touting Hillary for President? (newsmax.com) and I saw a thread on this posted, too:

An CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll in August showed Gore topping Hillary 42 to 21 percent, with political has-been Bill Bradley as the only other Democrat breaking into double digits. Former vice presidential nominee Joe Lieberman won just 9 percent in the CNN survey.

A similiar poll of Iowa Democrats taken in the spring showed only Gore edging out Mrs. Clinton.

Three weeks ago, the former first lady refused to unequivocally rule out a presidential run, telling NBC's "Meet the Press" only that she currently had no plans to seek the White House. In 1994 Sen. Clinton told reporters in New York that she would never seek any elective office under any circumstances.
