The man arrested for allegedly trying to blow up a transatlantic flight from France was turned away from a Paris airport the day before, police officials said.
A US senator said the passenger, caught Saturday carrying suspected explosives in the heels of his shoes on an American Airlines flight from Paris to Miami, was on a suicide mission.
A French police source said airline staff at Charles de Gaulle airport had turned the man away at the check-in because he was "behaving bizarrely, was agitated and had a worrying look."
His passport also appeared brand new, although police had verified that it had not been reported stolen.
"The next day, the man passed through, again without baggage. Usually someone taking a long haul flight without luggage should be reported to police in the country he boarded, but this was not done," the police source said.
Passengers and crew overpowered the man, who appeared to be attempting to ignite explosives mid-flight aboard the jet with 197 passengers and crew aboard.
The plane was diverted to Boston where the man was arrested.
French police said the man identified himself to Boston police as Sri Lankan national Abdel Rahim, a Muslim.
He had been carrying a suspected fake British passport which was issued three weeks earlier in Belgium in the name of Richard Colvin Reid, born in 1973.
Anti-terrorist prosecutors in Paris are to launch an investigation into the incident.
Laura White, spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Airport Authority, said the material in the man's shoe was consistent with C-4, a plastic explosive used for both industrial and military purposes.

Next time we might not get so "lucky." The Islamanuts are going to persist in this insanity, and a lot of people are going to die.

BRITISH CITIZEN?---Link A spokesman for the Scotland Yard told NBC News Sunday afternoon they believe the man arrested is believed to be a British citizen.
Scotland Yard said it is possible that Reid has dual citizenship in Britain and Sri Lanka. The London detective department said it had been advised by the FBI that Reid is the mans real name and that he was in fact a citizen of the United Kingdom who converted to Islam and may also have an Islamic name, possibly the name the French police used.

I can remember guys in my fraternity who, if they simply REMOVED their shoes, could instantly render everybody in the room unconscious. No wires, fuses--nuthin'.

Or could the clue have been that he was traveling to another country WITH NO LUGGAGE!!! That should have been a major tip off.

I don't think anyone denied he was Muslim. They denied he was Middle Eastern. And they were correct.

Easy to happen for many reasons IMO.Some do not utilize (put articles title in keywords and some use their own titles or a different title therefore you get zero hits.Don't worry about it.Sadly and wastefully this happens all the time

I don't know. However, I don't think it's Richard Colvin Reid.

We should not allow ourselves to be turned away from the lord again.

Another item to file under the category "ISLAM IS A PEACEFUL RELIGION -- practiced by violent, intolerant suicidals." May Allah be dimmed (or is it -- damned)?
