Scotland Yard said it is “possible” that Reid has dual citizenship in Britain and Sri Lanka. The London detective department said it had been advised by the FBI that Reid is the man’s real name and that he was in fact a citizen of the United Kingdom who converted to Islam and may also have an Islamic name, possibly the name the French police used.

This article (Substance in shoe of passenger on flight diverted to Boston tests positive for explosives) says: Police in France on Sunday identified the suspect as Tariq Raja and said he was a Sri Lankan national.
