Curious About Freeper's Views Of Joyce Meyer

"You got me plum-hypnotized," Elmer Gantry says to Sister Sharon Falconer in that film/novel.

Is that the case with me over Joyce Meyer?

She seems pretty good at down-home preachin'. And while not a classic beauty, she yet ministers out a fair amount sex appeal, along with the word.

(I think, ultimately, it's those Texas/Missouri eyes.)

I post this to philosophy since, as I know she has a fair amount of, at least internet detractors, it yet seems that her ability to project the Word, is as anchored in the integrity of faith as any other TV preacher I can recall.

...Except perhaps the late Bishop Fulton J Sheen.

In short though, Meyer lately fascinates me, and I'm curious what other Freepers may think. Particularly Evangelicals!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to All!

>>>I also know that she loves Jesus, and is not ashamed to say it. I am amaazed that most Christians don't publicly tell people that they LOVE Jesus>>>> Which jesus is she preaching? Paul warns us about "another jesus, another gospel, and another spirit". She preaches the "new jesus" that is this feel good, your ok, I'm ok gospel. Her jesus is VERY EFFEMINATE. Her jesus is that "angel of light" mentioned to beware of. Like I said, its a free country and the God of the most High will let you choose whatever god you want to follow. Isn't He all merciful?!!!!

Speaking the truth in love I see. FYI The Bible intructs women not to be pastors, but permits the teaching of women. Paul was corrected by a woman in Acts. Even the later translations with earlier manuscipts and a better understanding of Hebrew and Greek say that. And understand I would not promote her at all. Like I said in an earlier post, she would do better as a motivational speaker.

Can you give an example of Jesus dealing with any of the issues such as "spilling coffee and getting mad," or a "bad hair day"? I have not found any Scripture for these issues.

The scriptuse give alot of weight to the fruits of the Spirit. Those are goals that we set so that we can be a better example to the lost.

You can find all of those things that you mentioned wrapped up in:

LOVE
JOY
PEACE
KINDNESS
MEEKNESS
GENTLENESS
MEEKNESS

PATIENCE, and
SELF-CONTROL

Yes, there is a lot of scriptural weight in fruitful behavior, and how we react to our environment.

"speaking things into existence is new age." Absolutely wrong. It is 100% scriptural. It is "new age" to say, "I can't, because I'm just a worm."

I know he is controversial JUST because he does tell it like it is - Arnold Murray who pastors Shepherds Chapel Church in Gravette, Ark. He is an ex-Marine, Korean vintage and doesn't mince any words. He teaches verse by verse, chapter by chapter and book by book. His website is: www.shepherdschapel.com. Try him - you will get hooked! He is on Dish Network quite a number of hours each week - one must have the 500 version however.

Hey, I really like Fred Price and Max is alright if you like a la-de-da gospel.
Joyce is OK too for immature Christians. But sooner or later you have to grow up. Maybe oneday we all will, including Joyce.
Hope nobody spills coffee on her right before Jesus comes!

I find that I can relate it to incidents of combat I've known on the battlefield. Same principle(s), really.

I don't find any scriptures specifically for not using heroin. That's a lame argument. The Bible provides principles for living, not an encyclopedia. Jesus dealt with the "spilled" coffee explicitly when He said that who is faithful in little will be faithful in much; and that the "little foxes spoil the vines."

This is exactly the case, and is exactly what people need to get ahold of. You cannot begin to "love your brother" in the general sense until you love him enough specifically to put his shopping cart up, or refuse to get upset about a nasty comment. Discipline begins with the small things, not the big.

You are so full of crap you wouldn't know "New Age" if it hit you in the head. Who exactly did God give dominion to on this earth? If He didn't give it to Adam, then Adam could NOT have handed it over to the devil.

If God is in control in sense you mean, then no one would ever go to Hell, because it is His will that "none should perish," but all should come to eternal life. Nope, God gave US the control in this earth, and if we operate in line with HIS laws, then in a sense we "are" in control.

Your argument is like saying that you aren't in control of your light switch---the power company is. Yes, that's where the power IS---but the power company doesn't "control" your use of that power, you do.

I've never heard of her.

After I tracked down a picture to find out who you were talking about, I recognized her as someone I've seen on TV. But I've never really stuck around long enough to listen to her speak.

TV and religion is a strange mix. I'm inclined to think that almost anybody who'd put on a TV show like hers or have a web page that looks like this: Life in the Word is either strangely self-involved, or weirdly exploitative.

He dealt with the fleshly results of those things, which are usually counter to God's desired results. There are about 1.5 billion things that can cause us to have a bad attitude, Joyce Meyer merely deals with the issues that we face today and merely uses them to help us keep our priorities straight. She helps us see how we get bent out of shape over stupid things.

The question is, would we rather have a bad attitude about things we can't change, or draw on the fruits of the Sprit so that we might positively affect our relationship with God?

People with a bad attitude have a tough time approaching the Throne of God. Besides, others are watching us.

Arnold Murry is a "british Israelite" and a bible corrector. His authority is not the Holy Scriptures, its the Strong's Concordance. All he does through his broadcasts is correct Gods book. He thinks he's smarter than God. I heard him say that the microchip was not going to be the fictious "mark of the beast" and that he'd let the government put microchips all over his body just to prove there is no such thing as the mark of the beast. He is a bonified, card carrying APOSTATE.
