Curious About Freeper's Views Of Joyce Meyer

"You got me plum-hypnotized," Elmer Gantry says to Sister Sharon Falconer in that film/novel.

Is that the case with me over Joyce Meyer?

She seems pretty good at down-home preachin'. And while not a classic beauty, she yet ministers out a fair amount sex appeal, along with the word.

(I think, ultimately, it's those Texas/Missouri eyes.)

I post this to philosophy since, as I know she has a fair amount of, at least internet detractors, it yet seems that her ability to project the Word, is as anchored in the integrity of faith as any other TV preacher I can recall.

...Except perhaps the late Bishop Fulton J Sheen.

In short though, Meyer lately fascinates me, and I'm curious what other Freepers may think. Particularly Evangelicals!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to All!

You are wrong, on all counts. Look, either you believe the Bible, or you do not. The Bible says that women are not to be pastors, or teach men. They are to be keepers at home. If you fail to understand that, or agree with that, then your argument is with God. Many women rebel against what God has given them, Meyer being a prime example. Her rebellion has also caused her to teach a false doctrine. You would be well advised to spend more time finding out what the BIBLE says about things for yourself, than listening to a butch female preacher who even messed up the raising of her own children. (Her admission.)

Viva, the last reply concerned the fact that YOU were doing the very thing ...you accuse JM of.. Your condescending retort..didn't answer the question... but you condemned yourself already... with your own words.

I'll post these scriptures here Viva, as well. As you said, "Either you believe what Scripture says or you do not. It's very simple." I'm not trying to dump on you, but your posts are quite antagonistic with those whom you don't agree. It's quite sad, actually. Your zeal for God is admirable, but the way you are going about it reminds me of Paul, prior to his conversion to Christianity. I do not see in you the meekness of God's Spirit. And I blame some of this on the Christians or church which you must be affiliating yourself with.

God foresees that some individuals, in this case you Viva, will use their Biblical knowledge as a means to "beat the sheep" and judge others, and Jesus instructs us: "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye" (Matt. 7:5):

1 Corinthians 13

(1) If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. (2) If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (3) If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. (4) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. (5) It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. (6) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (7) It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (8) Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. (9) For we know in part and we prophesy in part, (10) but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. (11) When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. (12) Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. (13) And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Joyce Meyers, she has a following here like you wouldn't believe, the gospel according to Joyce, my mother-in-law, Joyce said this and this, my question is will she do another crusade for the Philippines? Her last one got cancelled. Hawaii is hooked on Joyce Meyers, she is Queen of Heaven, but she needs to talk about New World Order, and why the church should not be a IRS 501(c)3 organization, in fact she shouldn't be a 501 (c) 3, not for profit ministry, no ministry of God should be, 508 true church.

sausageseller, you are apparently wasting your time with these two (Viva La Homeschool and IvecrossedmyRubicon). I would call them "hit-n-run" Christians. They are quick to hit people over the head with their Bible and Bible comments, but run away at the first sign of someone who might possibly be equipped to beat them at their own game.

Do you also relate to Marilyn Hickey who teaches you to speak to your wallet or that Jesus Christ went to hell and paid for our sins in hell. It doesn't get much worse than that woman. The same kind of thing is being taught by Joyce Meyer. She teaches that Christ went to hell and was tormented by demons and that he was the first born-again man. And she says that unless you believe Jesus went to hell in our place, there is no hope of glory in heaven.

Joyce Meyer openly claims alliegance to the Word of Faith movement and to Word of Faith teachers, like Kenneth Copeland. She holds to a lot of cultic teachings with regards to generational spirits, etc.

Neither Kenneth Copeland's (nor their) teachings square with scripture on essential Christian doctrine. (Ditto for Kenneth Hagan, Rodney Howard Browne, Benny Hinn, et.al.)

Kenneth Copeland overtly mocks those who do not believe in his metaphysical concept of faith. Likewise, he mocks those who believe that Jesus atoned for our sins on the cross, and he makes it very clear that Jesus Christ did not atone for our sins on the cross...that he was a satanic being on the cross, that he had to go to hell to be *born again* in hell. He says satan conquered Jesus on the cross.

Copeland teaches that if he had the knowledge of the word of God that Jesus did, he could have redeemed mankind himself from their sins. So could we.

These are false teachers who teach false doctrine. They teach a different Jesus and a different gospel.

Who do you think God views as the worst of the worst? Abortionists? Homosexuals? Adulterers? Hitler? Pol Pot? False teachers? Who?

You may see who that is in the book of Jude:

Jude verses 12-13 says that the blackest darkness has been reserved _forever_ for false teachers.

That's because they misrepresent the Sovereign God and His gospel of grace, *alone / apart from* works. They mix in, and teach for doctrine, the commandments (works and traditions) of men.

In light of the book of Jude, why don't we see professing Christians out there stomping around protesting against the the above-described false teachers like they do against abortionists, homos, etc., huh?

I guess, unlike God, they just don't think believing or teaching false ideas about Him and his purposes is any "biggie".

Sigh....I have responded to this twisting scripture of Viva La Homeschool's (your link): see this below or refer back to my post 233.

. . . you are twisting around the Word of God and taking it out of context:

1 Cor. Chapter 14 concerns the exercise of gifts
1 Cor. 14:1-6 concerns superiority of prophecy
1 Cor. 14:7-25 concerns the gift of tongues
1 Cor. 14:26-40 concerns exercising those gifts in public worship

With regard to public worship, a church service is to be orderly, not confusion. Paul sets the example for how speaking in tongues is to be done in an orderly manner (For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted [14:31].

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. [14:34]

Now what is Paul talking about here? Tongues. He is not saying that a woman is not to speak in church; he is saying that she is not to speak in tongues in the church.

When Paul refers to the "commandments of the Lord" [1 Cor. 14:38], he is referring to the passage immediately prior to his writing about prophecy and gifts used within the church; it is not a blanket statement about women's hair length, that was in another chapter, and that is not a commandment of God, rather, Paul's preference that women have their hair long, due to the fact that prostitutes shaved their head in Corinth:

"But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God" [1 Cor. 11:16].

Paul says here that the church ought not to make rules in connection with the matter of women's dress or men's hair. The really important issue is the inner man. It is the old nature which needs a haircut and the robe of righteouness. The haircut and style of clothes won't make much difference if our old nature is under the control of the Holy Spirit, Who will take care of the outer man. Paul is just stating his opinion about men's and women's hair and dress.

Yes. But this love is something I find lacking in most Christians who have the knowledge but not the Christian heart. There are many Pharisees out there. May God forgive them what they are doing allegedly in His name. They are turning off many of the unchurched and those searching for God's love, through which salvation will come. Jesus was never as unkind and judgmental of so many souls when He walked this earth; in fact, He said He came here for the sick and sinners, to love them and save them, not for the righteous who showed they didn't need Him.

Joyce Meyer does NOT teach sound doctrine. She is a false teacher and teaches heresy and aberrance. Read my reply at #251, which just gives tip of the iceberg information about Meyer, et.al.

I've already read your reply at 251. You have not backed up anything you claim. Show me, in her own words, that she claims anything you say she does. I have listened to her very often and she has never said anything you claim she has. She has done nothing but speak sound doctrine. Copeland, I question, and I have also listened to him several times. As far as your views of scripture, you have already aligned yourself with Viva La Homeschool, who is way off base. Not only that, she uses scripture to beat people up with her unkindness, which is of greater concern to me than her misguided beliefs/doctrine.

"...[where] did this dribble come from?"

Are you saying that what Copeland, Meyer, et.al., teach is dribble, or are you just admitting that you didn't know they taught such unscriptural lies?
