Curious About Freeper's Views Of Joyce Meyer

"You got me plum-hypnotized," Elmer Gantry says to Sister Sharon Falconer in that film/novel.

Is that the case with me over Joyce Meyer?

She seems pretty good at down-home preachin'. And while not a classic beauty, she yet ministers out a fair amount sex appeal, along with the word.

(I think, ultimately, it's those Texas/Missouri eyes.)

I post this to philosophy since, as I know she has a fair amount of, at least internet detractors, it yet seems that her ability to project the Word, is as anchored in the integrity of faith as any other TV preacher I can recall.

...Except perhaps the late Bishop Fulton J Sheen.

In short though, Meyer lately fascinates me, and I'm curious what other Freepers may think. Particularly Evangelicals!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to All!

You still have failed to agree that women have a part in the five fold ministry. Until you agree to that, there is no use discussing Joyce Meyer or anybody else.

Also, the bible states that a women is not to preach

Titus 2

3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.

4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,

5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

This is what J.M. does... and is very good at it. She motivates women to excel in their purpose as Godly women, wives and mothers.

Actually she preaches, and to men. She also has short hair.

Men aren't banned from viewing her ministry of course... but she doesn't target/minister directly to them. It's all about women and self-discipline, running their homes in a Christ-like manner, etc. As far as the short hair is concerned... I think that's exclusively Penecostal, isn't it? Look at the heart... not just the exterior. Matt 23:24-27, Luke 11:39.

"Another religious scam. Follow the money!"

Ironically which however, has bettered millions of lives.

Without stating an opinon myself, there is a long essay on why it is ok for women to be ministers here: http://www.bible.com/answers/awomemin.html

I am not endorsing it, just trying to add to the discussion.

Sincere thanks, but I think I'll skip it. Call me old-fashioned, but I think women have absolutely no place in leadership -- especially in leadership of a church. It's a violation of nature, not that anyone really cares about that anymore in our feminized culture.

Timesink is correct, I didn't even read the article and had no idea what-so-ever who "Joyce Meyer" was.

I saw the headling and jumped in with a sexist, sarcastic comment totally in the blind because I thought it was funny..

See post #156.

(AND OF COURSE, with my luck she turns out to be a "minister" who has a masectomy.. uggh! Sucks to be me!)

Hopefully without seeming to prod, I really would be interested in any comment of yours to #126.

Best.

Happy New Year!

I might've asked earlier for your take on #126, and would surely be attentive. Might you comment?

You'll pardon me for saying so, but I can't see how it changes a thing I posted. Unless you somehow misinterpreted my comments to be disrespectful of women -- which I assure you now, they were not intended to be. Indeed, I'm a Roman Catholic and as such I note that the highest possible honor in all of scripture is paid to Mary -- the Ark of the New Covenant.

John 19

26 When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son!"
27 Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!"
