"Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone.
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.

"For when we come home, either standing or dead,
to know you remember we fought and we bled
is payment enough, and with that we will trust.
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

The American Sheeple--specifically the Lib'rals who carried the day back home in the 60's and 70's--lost Viet Nam, not our Fighting Men and Women...and it can NEVER be allowed to happen again, especially not with this War on Terrorism!! Those sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, who are out there risking their lives to defend OUR Rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness need and deserve our everlasting respect and love!!

Thanks md3, and FReegards...MUD

Thanks for the ping, making me cry AGAIN!!!! I'm going to have to charge you for a new tube of mascara, I'm going through it so quick these days with all these wonderful posts...

I can speak for that wife and son as a wife and son and daughter, we proudly bear the burden of having our loved one far from home, because we know what it means to YOU!
Thanks for reminding us...

God Bless You All! Barb

Alright. Now you've gone and done it. Every time I think I've seen the most heartwrenching, gut pulling, tear jerking words I can possibly imagine, along comes another one. There is so much love and so much feeling in this poem there aren't words to reflect the way I feel. Thank you, mommadooo3, from the bottom of my heart for posting this. G-d bless you and may the Lord watch over our Troops the way they are watching over us.

Thanks for the bump, I know what it is like to be in the military and away from my family for Christmas.

If everyone would do something for a soldier this christmas, there are far more of us, then there are of them, they would have a wonderful christmas, because they will know that they have not been forgotten and that thier sacrifice is appreciated.

Write an E-mail, send a care package, or write an honest to god on paper letter, I know, what a concept. But do something for our soldiers, they are out there for you!!

Thanks for the ping, Snow Bunny! And, thanks for the post, md3! It really touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye. The author really understands the military.

"For when we come home, either standing or dead,
to know you remember we fought and we bled
is payment enough, and with that we will trust.
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

My husband had to come home from Viet Nam in his civvies. Our troops deployed now will come home proudly wearing their uniforms.
God bless the military! God bless America!
