You are so right, you will never forget what you saw and felt that day, nor should you. We must always remember that day, and never allow ourselves to think we are immune to such evil in this country again.
Thank God you were safe, and the pictures you took are equally interesting. I especially like the message written in the dust, says it all.
I readily acknowledge that I am scarred for life by that, but I look for ways to make something positive come out of it.
My photographs are from the opposite direction and not from that day. In fact, after running from the collapsing towers, I didn't see my apartment again until that Sunday, when my father made the trip with me and that's when I grabbed my camera and started snapping.
That message in the dust just summed it up, even in ultra liberal downtown Manhattan.
