Arafat: I'm willing to sacrifice 70 to die to kill one Israeli
Independent Media Review & Analysis ^ | Date: 18 December 2001 | Aaron Lerner

Israel Radio West Bank correspondent Avi Yissakharov reported this evening that Yasser Arafat declared in a fiery speech in Ramallah today that "all Palestinians are Muhammad al-Dura", that all Palestinians are martyrs. 12-year-old Muhammad al-Dura was killed in the Gaza Strip last year while his father tried to protect him from crossfire. Arafat called for all to join in the struggle to stop what he termed the Israeli program to Judaize Jerusalem. The crowd roared back to Arafat "millions of martyrs are already marching to Jerusalem." Israel Television Channel Two reported this evening that Arafat also told the crowd that "I am willing to sacrifice 70 martyrs to kill one Israeli" and called for a continuation of the struggle against Israel.

I'm willing to sacrifice about 2 million martyrs.

Whew!!! Do you have 140 million virgins available?

Actually, I'm willing to sacrifice a whole bunch of Israelis for nothing starting with Peres. If the "Palestinians" offed him, I think Sharon out to restart negotiations immediately. With any luck, the "Palestinians" could take out Beilin, Sarid, and a whole bunch of other leftists while negotiations continued.

Wasn't that the poor little devil who got hit when his cowardly father rolled up in a ball beside him?

Yup, that's the one. From the pix, it looked to me more like the father was behind him. I absolutely do not understand that. If there was gunfire going on, as much of my child's body as could possibly fit would be under mine.

Full disclosure: I do not (yet) have any children, but I can't even imagine any other attitude.

"...He was shielding his son from what was ahead of them. He had no (reasonable)reason to shield his son from what was behind them..."

Nothing personal Sabra, I believe that you're sincere here.

But I'm going to go with what my 'lying eyes' saw on this.

Shimon Peres. I can even sweeten the ratio with a few of his friends.

JITTERBUG by Mike McQuay

Bantam 1984; paperback 422 pp; ISBN 0-553-24266-0

This science fiction story takes place in 2155, on an earth run by an Arab dictator with the power of life and death over everyone. He rules by terror, with a very contagious and fatal disease called Jitterbug, which has been used in the past, and has rendered 90 percent of the earth's surface uninhabitable. New Orleans, where this story takes place, is one of the few pockets of survivors left.

Olson, a drifter from the Southwest, enters the city assuming the identity of a Junex (Junior Executive) transferring from Dallas. Earth has become a place where ruthless amoral executives battle for what power is left, while everyone else simply battles for survival. Olson is accompanied by Gert, a sort of genetically engineered human sex machine, who knows her way around.

Together they battle for control of the local branch of the Light of the World (LOW) Corporation, the instrument through which the world is controlled, when their protector, the current head of LOW New Orleans, dies under mysterious circumstances.

This one is surprisingly good. Given the year it was published, it is very plausible. The social speculation is right on target, the characters are real people, and it's an all around interesting read.

Mike McQuay wrote "Escape from New York" a year later, subsequently the film from John Carpenter.

I read "Jitterbug" when it was published. Excellent read, esp. in light of recent events.

I don't know for certain that we don't directly support the PA

Yeah, we send them millions. I don't know the exact figure, but I believe it's in the neighborhood of 150 million.

You know this is very close to the 72 virgin number. Maybe they are both from the same source.

I mean, to say one thing to other national leaders and then to say a different thing to your countrymen is extremely deceitful.

Apparently they're not bound by rules of honesty. Remember how bin laden stated "categorically" on 9/11 or shortly thereafter that he had nothing to do with the attacks? Their people see no hypocrisy there at all, no problem whatsoever. I just wish world leaders, starting with our own, would call it like it is and have the truth out in the open to deal with.

"...I absolutely do not understand that. If there was gunfire going on, as much of my child's body as could possibly fit would be under mine..."

Exactly.

When anything even remotely like bullets flying happens a normal parent will get on their kid like stink on a monkey.

Yesterday, I was flamed for calling Arafat a nasty little raghead, and the most dishonest man (of prominent mention) in the world.

Consider it said again.

Do they, like Israel, have to spend the money in the US?

Did they spend it on 9/11?
