In a teaser-style cameo this hour, Fox News Channel's Sheppard Smith announced that the network will present, tonight, someone who will detail her knowledge of how a prominent women's group was paid for its silence on the Lewinsky scandal.

Check out "The New Thought Police" by Tammy Bruce...Chapter 5..."Not NOW - The Selling-Out of the Feminist Establishment"..."According to the Grants Management Office of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, California NOW was awarded more than half a million dollars in a grant from - get this - the Centers for Disease Control's Office on Smoking and Health. The grant was for what was termed "tobacco control." From the years 1995 through 1997 - while NOW maintained its strange silence on Bill Clinton and on occasion actually issued a direct rebuke to Paula Jones - California NOW received a total of $543,636 in taxpayer money from Clinton's government, specifically the Donna Shalala-headed Department of Health and Human Services."

Reminds me of a conversation that once took place between Winston Churchill and a well-respected woman in British social circles:

I don't think it was that NOW chapter in Virginia, because they sure didn't stay silent. I was only half-listening when the teaser was aired, but I think it was portrayed as successful payoff. And as best I recall, the teaser began with the question "Did Bill Clinton pay ...?" or somesuch link directly between the IMXPOTUS and the payoff.

I heard this story as it was Churchill, but I heard it as someone else too. One day Churchill was at a gathering and he ask a lady if she would sleep with him, she said no. He then asked her if she would sleep with him for a million pounds, she said yes, of course. He then asked her if she would sleep with him for 10 pounds, she said no, of course not, who do you think I am? His reply was, Madam who you are has already been established, we are talking price.
